Well, summer is almost officially over. And I’m OK with that. The show must go on!
I noticed that this summer I craved white florals more than usual. Many of my go-to bottles are white floral heavy.
12. Thierry Mugler Womanity EDP – Yeah, I’m team Womanity. I like this salty weird fruity floral. Full review. It’s $25 at Fragrancenet.
11. Serge Lutens La Fille de Berlin – A cool rose that is refreshing in summer heat. Yeah, it has a confusing grim backstory but I do enjoy the actual juice (even if it is slightly neon). Full review. Retails for $130 at Beautyhabit.
10. Jean Paul Gaultier Summer 2013 – I like this powdery white floral when it has been watered down. Full review. It’s $69 at Nordstrom.
9. Hiram Green Moon Bloom natural EDP – This is a gorgeous tuberose white floral with a hint of coconut and fresh greens. It’s glamarous. I only had a sample but I quickly used it up. Full review. It’s €135 at Hiram Green.
8. By Kilian Beyond Love EDP – This shares DNA with the one above. It’s a jasmine tuberose with grains of warm sand. Full review. It’s $235 at Luckyscent.
7. Bain de Soleil Spray Sunscreen – I admit that this is a rather weird one but it has always been my philosophy that if one wants to smell like tanning oil, then wear tanning oil. This is a nostalgic orange blossom. And yes, I wear this spray as perfume. I spray it on all exposed skin. And it provides a piddly amount of SPF 4. $9 at Drugstore.com.
6.CB I Hate Perfume At the Beach 1966 perfume oil – See above. This is an orange blossom with oysters. This is what I layer over my Bain de Soleil. Full review. $100 at CB I Hate Perfume.
5. Phoenix Botanicals Night Bloom natural perfume oil – It’s a gorgeous orange blossom over a luscious vanilla. This was my “night” fragrance for summer. Full review. $48 at Phoenix Botanicals.
4. Estee Lauder Azuree Soleil EDT – Remember this one? It’s Bronze Goddess’ mom. It’s about the same but a little crisper and the vetiver is more pronounced. It’s awesome. And discontinued.
3. Atelier Orange Sanguine EDP – This is orange and musk. I bought it to wear in the summer. And I did. And now I’m tired of it. Full review. $155 at Beauty.com.
2. Ellie Saab EDT – A pretty modern white floral. Travel spray retails for $74 at Nordstrom.
1. HEELEY Sel Marin EDP – For some reason, this one has gotten lots of wear from me this summer. It’s my favorite ocean fragrance. Full review. Retails for $180 at MiN NY.
Which fragrances did you find yourself reaching for during the summer?
Nice list- I must sample Womanity- I’m curious about the saltiness. The Hiram Green sounds lovely but I’m wary about the DNA sharing with Beyond Love which I do not love..:) [I do love Carnal Flower though]
I reached most for (surprisingly- weather wise) Amouage Lyric which I fell head over heels in love with. Less surprisingly CdG Champaca EDT, Serge Lutens Un Lys, FM Iris Poudre and lately (it is still sort of summer in San Diego) Marni by Marni.
Lavanya recently posted..Marni by Marni : Ms Charming?
I think I’m immune to salty because of the salt air.
Oh, the Hiram Green’s is much better IMO. It’s natural, super high-quality.
You have a great list. Love all of those and I can see them doing well in the heat too.
I had to make myself do this video. It was 90 degrees and sunny today. I’m still wearing summery perfumes.
I loved your list (and your video and seeing your hairstyle … I feel like I have a permanent crush on your hair, lol!). Oddly enough, I don’t know most of the perfumes on your list. I have a wax sample of La Fille de Berlin (which is quite pretty and doesn’t really match up with the back story that you and Kafka have reported on), and I have samples of Ellie Saab and Beyond Love, neither of produced much reaction in me when I first tried them, but maybe I’ll revisit.
For most of the summer, I was in a peachy and tropical kind of mood, and wore SoOud Ouris, Guerlain Mayotte, EnVoyage Vents Ardents, Victoria Minya Hedonist and Parfums delRae Amoureuse – plus, more than anything, Amouage Epic Woman (which is not peachy or tropical, of course). End of summer, I wore out my decant of Parfums d’Empire Equistrius.
p.s. In my comment about La Fille de Berlin, I’m agreeing with you … that the perfume is not what one would expect given the backstory. (Somehow when I re-read my comment, it made it sound like I was being contradictory.)
My hair is driving me crazy right now. I need to get my bangs trimmed. But, then they get this long and I always think, “Oh, I’ll just grow them out”. Actually, my hair just needs trimmed. I love my hair shorter but, geez, it’s expensive to get it cut/trimmed every month. And this length is good because I can curl too. OK, I’ll end my hair rambling now.
Ellie Saab and Beyond Love wouldn’t have interested me at all. But, I’m going through this white floral thing and those are “light” enough for summer.
Good list 😉 I have a feeling that Hedonist will make my fall or winter list for sure. I found out about it later this summer and I’m rather enjoying it.
You’ve reminded me that I have a sample of Mayotte and Vents Ardents and that I should try them.
Oh, just read about this one today – It sounds like your summer cravings. http://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Profumi-del-Forte/Vaiana-Dei-19931.html
Thank you – you’re so right!! One look at that note list and it has just about everything I crave. In fact, that note list looks damn near perfect for me. 😀
I’ve been in a white floral mood as well this summer – very strange for me. Maybe there is something in the summer air? 🙂
I think there is! I know there are quite a few of us revisiting florals this summer.
