EauMG’s February 2015 Empties

February 2015 Empties

Well, February, which usually is a short month that feels the longest (ugh, winter) but this year, it felt like the short month that it is. This month breezed by which was great because I usually passionately hate February.

After my Hong Kong haul, I tried really hard not to buy anything. And really, I don’t need anything. But, I did end up buying a few skincare samples. And I ran out of hand soap so that was bought too. And then yesterday, the last day of the month, I went to Ulta and bought stuff that I didn’t really need but thought I did (eyeshadow palette, hair stuff). Oh, well, nobody is perfect.

Here’s what I used up in February:

February Empties

Skincare

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Night Cream – This is a lightweight lotion with retinol. Honestly, I noticed no retinol-ish results after using the entire tube. It’s not enough for me. Saying that, it’s a good over the counter retinol that takes many months to see results. If you’re patient, this is probably good for you.

  • Repurchase? Nope, I’ve moved on to the big guns.

Innisfree It’s Real Manuka Honey Sheet Mask – This is a sheet mask with a light, honeyed floral fragrance. It’s actually one of my favorite fragrances from this line. The mask left me feeling moisturized.

  • Repurchase? Yes.

Arezia Q10 Collagen Dark Circle Eye Mask – I have no idea what this is or what it should do. It’s one of those serum masks on the silicone disk thingies. The ingredients are mainly Q10 collagen, water, hylauronic acid, seaweed extract and aloe. It feels cool and refreshing. Plus, it’s gold and metallic and makes me feel like Goldfinger, so that’s cool.

  • Repurchase? Yes. It’s a novelty but it feels good. And I paid less than 50¢ for it. If I can get that price again, I’ll repurchase. And I think it did temporarily smooth lines under the eyes.

Yoshimomo Clarifying Serum (trial size, not pictured) – I am really loving this indie skincare brand. This serum is really good as an acne spot treatment for me. I really want to try more from this brand.

  • Repurchase? Despite liking it, probably not. I’m some prescription stuff right now and I shall see how that goes…

Summary – I completely switched all the skincare that I was using this month. Hence, the minimal amount of empties.

February Fragrance Empties

Fragrance

Lulah Body Spray in Magnolia Fig – I typically end up using body sprays as air fresheners. This one is a tart cranberry magnolia. Full review here.

  • Purchase? Nope.

Votivo Rush of Rose Travel Tin Candle – This is one of my favorite rose home fragrances. It’s crisp and dewy. Full review.

  • Repurchase? Yes.

Providence Perfume Co. Hindu Honeysuckle EDP (sample) – This is such a lovely warm floral with a lot of ambrette. Full review.

  • Purchase? I may. It’s one of my favorites from the brand.

Smell Bent Lobster Cellphone EDT (sample, not pictured) – So sick of gloomy weather. Started wearing this grapefruit and tomato leafy. Tangy and fresh. Review here.

  • Purchase? No. It’s been discontinued BTW.

Smell Bent Green EDT (sample, not pictured) – This smells very green, reminds me of poke salat. This helped me get out of winter funk. It really did. Review here.

  • Purchase? Actually I would if it weren’t discontinued. *sad trombone*

Summary – In case you didn’t notice, my perfume tastes were leaning more “summery”.

February Bath and Body Empties

Bath & Body

Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrub in Haus Amber  – This is a rich, sweet amber that I really like. Great formula. Full review.

  • Repurchase? Yep.

Haus of Gloi Bubbling Scrub in Risque (not pictured) – I love the formula but I’m not liking this scent. It’s a limited edition for Valentine’s Day (I bought it last year and it took me this long to use it). It’s odd because it’s a leather rose but if you didn’t know that, you’d think it smelled like plastic wrap with some boho store red musk.

  • Repurchase? Nope.

Avalon Organics Bath & Shower Gel in Ylang-Ylang – This is one of those minty, camphoric ylang-ylang scents. Because of this, I liked using it in the morning as a “wake up” scent. For a natural shower gel, it lathers nicely.

  • Repurchase? Probably not. I liked it but I didn’t love it.

Whipped Goods Whipped Body Butter in Pumpkin Pie – I love whipped shea butters. This scent was a limited edition scent for autumn. I loved it becuase it was a dry, spicy scent that layered wonderfully under spicy perfumes like YSL Opium, Estee Lauder Cinnabar and DSH Perfumes Piment et Chocolat.

  • Repurchase? Yep, next fall.

Daiso Rose Hand Soap (not pictured) – As snobby as it sounds, I usually buy nice hand soaps. But, this time I didn’t and let me tell you that I regret it. This was watery and not moisturizing. The scent is like rose water which I like, but overall a real dud of a product.

  • Repurchase? Nope.

Dial Hand Soap in Alpine Snowdrops – See my snobby comment above. I bought this because how could I not buy something claiming to smell like snowdrops? Well, this seasonal scent was a letdown. It’s a rather generic clean, soapy floral that frankly smells like something Dial would make.

  • Repurchase? No.

Ziaja Natural Olive Oil Hand Cream (sample) – A rather basic hand cream that isn’t greasy.

  • Purchase? No.

Summary – What? No bar soaps??? Even I’m surprised by this.

February Hair Empties

Hair

Suave Professionals Keratin Infused Dry Shampoo – Now that I don’t have bangs, I go through dry shampoos a lot less frequently than I used to. I’ve tried quite a few of these and my hair seems to really like this formula. Plus, it’s cheap.

  • Repurchase? Yeah. I may stray for a little bit though.

Pantene Aqualight Shampoo – This was my “clarifying” shampoo. It’s you know, a basic drugstore shampoo with a strong clean aroma. Not terrible but not great for my hair type either.

  • Repurchase? Naw.

Summary – I used up some really cheap hair stuff.

February makeup empties

Makeup

NYX Blotting Paper in Matte – Gets the job done. Good price.

  • Repurchase? Probably.

Tigi Perfect Eyeliner in Black – Do you have any products where you have no idea how you own it? This is one of those. I don’t remember buying it or anyone giving it to me, but I have it. And I used it. It’s was OK but I love the Urban Decay liners much more.

  • Repurchase? Well, did I even buy this? I have no clue why I owned this, lol. Answer – probably not.

Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Lipstick in Beige 100 – I love this formula. I love this neutral shade. Love the packaging. I just really love Armani makeup.

  • Repurchase? Hypothetically, yes. I mean, I dug it out of the tube to use every last bit of product. But, I have so many lipsticks, including an Armani one that is close enough to this shade to justify not purchasing another.

Summary – Wow! I used up an entire tube of lipstick! Only a billion more to go…

Total: 21. 16 full-size, 2 travel/deluxe samples, 3 samples

What about you? Which products did you use up in February? Did you purchase anything in February? Did you throw out anything?

  1. Empties were Lux Evenly Radiant soap (like this one’s scent), Garnier Absolute Dry deodorant, Tresemme heat defence spray, L’oreal Professionnel Pure Resource shampoo. This one is also a clarifying shampoo but I must say that I do miss Pantene’s original Clarifying shampoo, the one with the dark blue motifs, which was discontinued.

    1. Well, I’m in the market for a clarifying shampoo 🙂 Yes! I actually thought Aqualight would be a good replacement for that Pantene one, but they’re not the same. I just figured they changed the packaging/marketing (“clean rinse”, etc.) but they’re different 🙁

  2. Hi Victoria! Although this question is not directly related to this post, I was wondering if you’ve tried both the Aroma M Camellia face oil and the Aftelier face oils – and if you had any preferences between the two. I’m probably going to end up getting samples of both, but was hoping for any sort of comparison between them. 🙂
