EauMG’s Father’s Day 2012 Gift Guide

I love to throw together gift guides. And because of this, I’m not looking over Father’s Day. One of the many cool things that I’ve realized since starting EauMG 4 years ago is that there are many men and many fathers that are into fragrance. Can you believe that men have diverse interests? 😉 Well, they do. And just because your dad hated fragrance and grooming products doesn’t mean that all men hate fragrance and grooming products. My husband looked over my shoulder while I was making this guide and said “Victoria’ Jent’s Gift Guide to sh*t that dads do not want”. I had to remind him that he is wrong…there are many types of fathers. Here’s my 2012 gift guide for fathers of all ages.

Father's Day 2012 gift guide

1 – Portland General Store Cigar Box Sample Set – This gift set contains travel size samples of Shave Soap, Shave Jelly, After-Shave Splash, Shampoo, Conditioner and Cologne. These items come in a rustic, reclaimed cigar box. How cool is that? The set retails for $45 at Portland General Store.

2 – Juniper Ridge Timberline Trail Set – Men go nuts for this brand. Seriously. Send Dad to the wilderness of the rugged Pacific Northwest. This gift set contains a Cascade Glacier Room Spray (it’s so awesome), Wild Huckleberry Jam, Douglas Fir Tea (so awesome) and Cascade Glacier Soap. The set retails for $50 at Juniper Ridge. (Pic in the collage is not of the actual gift set).

3 – BijaBody Man Tea – Tea for men. Yeah, any gender can drink this but this energizing tea contains herbs that are good for men 🙂 And the tin is more gender neutral. A 5.5 oz tin with a mesh steeper retail for $15 at BijaBody.

4 – LUSH Dirty Body Spray – This is a great choice for summer since the scent is very refreshing and can be used liberally. It comes in an odd spray bottle that dad may or may not find humorous. Here’s my review. It retails for about $20 at LUSH.

5 – Penhaligon’s Sartorial EDT – This is one of my favorite more recent masculine launches. It’s all masculine fragrance genres throw into one bottle. And it works. And it appeals to a variety of ages. It comes in 2 sizes with the 3.4 oz retails for $120 at Penhaligon’s.

6 – Perfumes: The A-Z Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez – Dad showing an interest in perfume? This is a good book to help him through his journey. And he just may find it entertaining. It retails for about $14 on Amazon.

7 – Aftelier Chef’s Essences Jeni’s Ice Cream Set – These Chef’s Essences are awesome. This kit contains 6 that were featured in chef Jeni’s ice cream cook book. And since it’s June, you’ll want to make some homemade ice cream using these exotic flavors: Clove, Coriander, Lavender, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, and Wild Sweet Orange. This set retails for $90 at Aftelier.

8 – Orange Thyme Star Wars Lip Balms – These unscented and sheen-free lip balm is great for any Star Wars fan. You can choose from a Stormtrooper, C-3PO, Yoda or Darth Vader. They are $3.50 each or $10.50 for the complete set. You can buy them at The Soap Box Co.

9 – Strange Invisible Perfumes Body Wash Lavender & Vetiver – This all-natural shower gel has an herbaceous and fresh aroma of lavender and vetiver that many men like. A little goes far. It retails for $35 at Spirit Beauty Lounge.

10 – Voluspa Maison Rouge Candle in Warm Perique Tabac – This scent is warm and masculine with a 007 edge. It smells like a formal study. Here’s my review. The candle retails for $27 at Candles Off Main.

11 – Geo F. Trumper Violet Soft Shaving Cream – It’s old-school barbershop shaving cream from a company that has been around since the late 1800’s. This luxurious cream with a subtle green violet scent retails for about $25 at Smallflower.

12 – D.S. & Durga Cowboy Grass EDP – This isn’t exactly a beginner’s fragrance in my opinion but I see it working for Clint Eastwood types. This is a dry, herbaceous masculine fragrance with vetiver and thyme. It’s cowboy grass…rugged with open skies. The 1.7 oz EDP retails for $96 at D.S. & Durga.

And that concludes my Father’s Day 2012 Gift Guide. To all the dads out there that love fragrance, you’re awesome.

  1. Love this list, Victoria! It can be so freaking hard to choose gifts for non-metrosexual men, but you’ve done an excellent job here. The idea of Man Tea is hilarious. Also, the hardcover version of Perfumes: The Guide has a slightly more “manly” looking cover, if anyone is interested.

    1. Thanks! I have found that the marketing of tea to non-metro men has been very difficult. For some reason tea is marketed like yogurt. It appears one must have girly parts to enjoy these 2 items…whatever. Who knows what would happen to someone if they only ate Dannon yogurt and drank herbal tea…
Oh, yes, you’re right. The hardcover is a bit more masculine. But, Dad could have it on an e-reader too 🙂

    1. Sartorial is awesome. I’ve yet to write a review because that’s all I want to say 🙂

    1. It’s a great scent. And not off-putting like a certain company’s “candles for men”…
