DSH Perfumes White Lilac EDP Perfume Review

DSH Perfumes White Lilac

I love the smell of lilacs. I hope when I retire that I move to a lilac ranch. (Um, are any of those things real? Retirement, lilac ranches?) I love the heady floralness, the honeyed nuances and most importantly I love how the flowers and their scent remind me of spring.

Lilac perfumes aren’t the easiest soliflores to find. I’ve head that the flowers can’t be distilled but one would think accords could be done to replicate the floral. I don’t know if they’re unpopular because they don’t sell. All I know is that if there is a lilac perfume out there, I’ll sample it.

White Lilac is a sheer floral. It’s a soft white musk with tangy sliced Granny Smith apples. The honeyed lilac comes in like a breeze. Heady and almost like a ghostly jasmine. The dry-down is a light, floral white musk that reminds me of Egyptian musk.

Overall, it’s a very pretty, ethereal lilac soliflore. It’s lighter and airier than many of the other lilac soliflores that I’ve sampled/own.

Billie Burke

Notes listed include neroli, apple, violet leaf,  clover leaf, ambrette, beeswax and musk. (re) Launched in 2014.

Give White Lilac a try if you like lilacs or sheer florals. Or if you like perfumes like Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely, Alfred Sung Sha, Pacifica French Lilac, Philosophy Amazing Grace, J.Lo Glow and/or Le Labo Ambrette 9. It’s a light perfume, making it great for day wear or warm weather wear.

Projection and longevity are average.

The 1 oz EDP retails for $70 at DSH Perfumes. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONSheer lilac with a delicate floral musk. Really pretty and smoother than the “purple lilac” perfumes that I’ve tried.

  1. I really want to try this. It sounds nice. I enjoy SpaRituals Chinese Jasmine sugar scrub, which is really a very pretty lilac scrub that lingers. Best smelling, non jasmine scrub I’ve ever used. I too would love retirement/and or lilac ranch. My husband told me last year to give up the dream of growing lilacs. They never live past the searing summers here.

    1. Nice to know about the SpaRituals! Now that I know it’s a lilac, then I must try it. Plus, I love sugar scrubs.

Yeah, growing up even in the South, no lilacs could survive the summers. When I came out here, I was in awe and people found it amusing. But, they just do not grow everywhere! I guess this is why I treasure them so. They’re still rather “exotic” to me.

  2. Thank you, Victoria, for reviewing White Lilac! I miss Spring already, although it’s been the rainiest Summer I ever seen here in Boulder. I hope that you’ll visit one Spring and check out the lilacs just outside my workroom door; they’re amazing. Big fragrant hugs to you~~~

    1. We’ve had a warm summer and it makes me miss spring!

Sounds like the best inspiration is right outside your workroom!
