DSH Perfumes has created a collection of perfumes for the YSL Retrospective Collection at the Denver Art Museum. La Vie en Rose is inspired by a 1980’s bow dress and of course, the iconic 1980’s perfume, Paris. DSH has created a modern perfume with the structure of the epic Paris.
La Vie en Rose opens with juicy cassis and sparkling rose. And aldehydes and aldehydes. The linden adds a heady, honeyed floralness. The scent isn’t thick or heavy. It’s not “80’s”. Leave your New Romantic pirate shirts in storage; that style isn’t back yet. La Vie en Rose is breezy and bright. In the heart, the fragrance is a rose-violet with a green grassiness. The dry-down is soft, clean, grassy, and mossy. The overall feel of this fragrance is light-hearted and I’m going to say it’s flirty.
Notes listed include aldehydes, bergamot, cassis bud, green clover blossoms, neroli, centifolia rose, French lily, French linden blossom, heliotrope, lily of the valley, violet, violet leaf, wood, ylang ylang, Australian sandalwood, civet, green oakmoss, moss, musk and Virginia cedar.
Rose lovers, this is a perfume for you to try. If you like sheer, fruity-florals, you need to try this too. Give La Vie en Rose a try if you like Dolce & Gabbana Rose The One, Burberry Touch, Caron Delire de Roses, aroma M Geisha Blanche, and the obvious one, YSL Paris. I view La Vie en Rose as a very feminine fragrance. It’s perfect for year round wear, but I can see most people liking it in the spring and summer because of its “sparkling sheerness”.
La Vie en Rose has average to above average projection and average longevity. I love to spray myself lavishly with this perfume. I want to be surrounded by it.
A small bottle retails for $55 at DSH Perfumes.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Honeyed rose and violet that is sheer, green, and flirty. It really is a modern YSL Paris. It’s sheerer and not an 80’s powerhouse of a fragrance. I’ve used up my sample. This means I like it.
