Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume
Well, it’s about time that I review one of my favorite iris perfumes, Dior Homme. And one of my favorite designer masculines…ever.
Dior Homme opens with a sharp lavender that quickly fades into a clean, classic interpretation of an “eau de cologne” with citrus and herbs. It smells like an Italian holiday. Enter the iris, the real reason why people fall in love with Dior Homme. It’s cool yet buttery. It’s a well-rounded iris that is very Chanel-ish. The heart is an absolutely amazing iris that smells much more expensive than what you’re actually paying for this. It’s almost like an “iris liqueur” as it has so much richness and depth to it. The dry-down is a powdery iris suede.
I’m sure if you are in the “know” that you are aware that Dior Homme has been reformulated. And if you go to sites like Basenotes, you can read long threads about this. My bottle is pre-reformulation but I have sniffed the new bottle in-store. In my opinion, most people will not notice this at all. It’s the obsessives that will notice. I’m not saying that Dior Homme still smells the same but what I’m saying is that if you have never tried it, go try it. It’s still much, much better that most of the “male” stuff sold at Sephora.
Notes listed include lavender, sage, bergamot, iris, amber, cacao, vetiver, patchouli and leather. Launched 2005. PERFUMER – Fracois Demachy
Give Dior Homme a try if you are looking for a good iris. Or if you like perfumes like Bottega Veneta Pour Femme, Prada Infusion d’Iris EDP, Serge Lutens Daim Blonde and/or Etat Libre d’Orange Bijou Romantique. It says “homme” but it’s unisex. It’s for anyone that likes iris.
Projection and longevity are average. But, that’s my opinion. It’s much “softer” than a lot of designer masculines that aim to suffocate everyone in the locker room.
Dior Homme comes in two sizes with prices ranging from $62-$84 at Sephora.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – An awesome iris.Oh, it’s so good.

Hi, Thanks for the link. Jin smells killer in this. He has a vintage and a modern and both smell fabulous. Different but really good either way.

I absolutely love it. It smells much more expensive than its retail price.
