Demeter Gin & Tonic Cologne Review

Demeter Gin & Tonic

I don’t find it unusual to want to smell like a cocktail since most fragrances have an alcohol base. There are easy to replicate and most things put into cocktails smell good. Demeter Gin & Tonic is a the simplest cocktail; it’s stripped down. This is a “masculine” fragrance. It’s fresh and clean smelling. It has a mineral element to it (tonic, right?), slightly effervescent. There is a faint citrus/lime in this that adds a refreshing quality. The base is a tad spicy, a synthetic juniper accord. On me this wears a fresh musky juniper like scent with a hint of “aquatic” lime. It’s simple and understated, just like a Gin & Tonic. And it’s refreshing, just like a Gin & Tonic.  Something about Demeter Gin & Tonic reminds me of CK One; hence, I get a “urban modern” vibe from Gin & Tonic. I think I associate “urban modern” with clean, mineral, and synthetic (CK One, Bvlgari White Tea, Malin+Goetz Lime Tonic).

Like all of Demeter scents (they are colognes), this is light wearing. But, it really “sticks” to my skin. This is one of the few that I can smell on myself later. That being said, I have a 4 oz. spray cologne bottle of this stuff and I “shower” in it as if it was a body spray. This is one of those fragrances that I like for summer. It wears so lightly and close to the skin, understated spicy and fresh. I also think this makes a nice “work” fragrance. It’s unisex but in my opinion it leans more to the masculine end of the spectrum. This is one that I really like even though I do think it would smell better on a man than myself. I haven’t layered it with anything (yet) but I do think it would add a clean “modern” musk edge to any fragrance.

Give this a try if you like clean/fresh colognes or those “urban” musk scents such as CK 1 EDT, Bvlgari The Blanc, Malin + Goetz Lime Tonic, Parfum d’Empire Yuzu Fou, Reminescence Eau de Rem, Love + Toast Gin Blossom, Escentric Molecules Escentric 02, Pacifica Avalon Juniper Solid Perfume, and/or Burberry Sport for Men.

An 1 oz. Pick-Me-Up Cologne Spray retails for $20 at Demeter. Other sizes are also available for purchase.
