Caron Tubereuse is the most recent fountain perfume from the house. It was created in 2003. It is obviously made for people with pockets for a fountain creation but found all of the others too old-fashioned. And when I say old-fashioned, I mean “too complex”.
Caron Tubereuse reminds me of grape soda pop in the opening. It’s fizzy and fruity. This quickly vanishes and it becomes a tuberose with peach. And then it wears as tuberose and freesia with a dash of nutmeg. It’s a bright tuberose, not too sweet, nor is it “dark and sultry. In the heart I get the pretty florals with a peachy osmanthus. The peach is less juicy, more floral with more pollen in the heart. Being a soliflore extrait, it wears rather linear.
It’s pretty but if I had to choose my top 3 in the fountains, Tubereuse would not be one of them. If I had to choose my top 3 tuberoses, Caron Tubereuse wouldn’t be one of them. But, it’s nice.
Notes listed include tuberose and freesia. Launch date 2003. PERFUMER – Richard Fraysee
Give Tubereuse a try if you like tuberose perfumes. Or if you like perfumes like Byredo Inflorescence, By Kilian Forbidden Games, Piguet Fracas and/or Bond No. 9 Chinatown. Really, I recommend this extrait if you’ve always loved the idea of wearing Fracas but found Fracas overbearing.
Tubereuse in the extrait format wears closely to the skin. Longevity is average. This is one meant to be worn with a few dabs behind the ears.
The parfum retails for $150 at Luckyscent. And of course, it’s available at Caron boutiques.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Peachy tuberose. I imagine this is what Piguet Fracas smelled like when she was 12 years old. Like I’ve already said, it’s pretty and all but it lacks what I’m looking for. I like the more “complex” Carons. Their soliflores were never my favorites.

So what are your top 3 Caron fountain fragrances? I know you’re a Caron lover and so am I.

That is a tough question! I mean, there’s the ones that I wear and then there are the ones that I admire.
As far as wear, it’d be: Aimez-Moi, Farnesiana and Narcisse Blanc.
Admire and wear but wear less frequently: Narcisse Noir, Parfum Sacré and Bellodgia.
OK, I’m going to stop because I’m already feeling my mind change…
Dearest Victoria
I’m with you on Tubeureuse, it is as pretty as a peach, but not a patch on some of the old classics, the back catalogue of which I’ve been going through in a little celebration of the House over at my place of late.
So based on a fairly extensive recent sampling might I chip in my top three (for this evening at least)… En Avion, Narcisse Noir, Nuit de Noel, Tabac Blonde, Frech Can Can…oh that’s five already, and they’re only from the amphorae.
I do wish Caron got a few more loving caresses.
Yours ever

Oh, En Avion…Tabac Blonde, I need those on my list too!
I’m a fan of Caron, I can’t make a list. It’s easier for me to make a list of 3 I wish they’d remove 😉 AND I just forgot about the masculines! I adore so many of those.
Tuberueuse is nice and I’ve enjoyed wearing my sample but I’m not going to go out of my way and purchase it. There’s too many other Carons on my list.
I reaaaaaaaally need to try Narcisse Blanc and Farnesiana.

I’m mad at myself in regards to Farnesiana. The first time I tried it I was at a Caron boutique (it’s a fountain exclusive as well). Well, I have my rule where I don’t buy a FB unless I’ve worn it a few times. It was instant love. I wanted it so badly but talked myself out of it. And then I didn’t get to go back before I had to fly back home.
Here I am years later and still don’t have a bottle 🙁 A friend was generous enough to decant me some of hers but there isn’t much left.
I love tubeureuse to have a strong left hook! A Mae West kind of “Ummm, you can be had big boy” attitude. This sounds rather like a Deanna Durbin tubeureuse. But honestly I need to dive into the house and get to know more about Caron.

So do I. When I’m in the mood for them, I want them to big, bold and brash!
Oh, this is totally the Deanna.
You’ve got to try more. It’s a great house (OK, I’m partial) even the masculines are good.
