I’m finally feeling like playing in makeup again. I mean, I’ve always loved playing in makeup. I guess what I mean is that I finally feel like posting makeup reviews/looks again. I feel like *talking* about makeup again. I feel like talking about colors and textures and pretty potions. Who knows, maybe another vintage inspired makeup tutorial will show up on EauMG again?
I’ve tried three lip products from Cargo Cosmetics, a brand that is inspired by travel and geographic locations. I’ve tried two Essential Lip Colors, Napa and Punta Cana. And I’ve tried one Essential Lip Gloss, Vienna.
Here’s the swatches:
Essential Lip Color
Described as “smooth creamy and lightweight formula” that “delivers “high pigment payoff”.
Both of these are so creamy, smooth and buttery. There’s no scent or taste.
The packaging is rather simple but the cap stays on and I like that.
Shade: Napa
A perfect plum berry that has no shimmer. This is a gorgeous shade that reminds me of blackberries that are almost ripe. This shade has major color with just one swipe. It applies evenly. It’s a comfortable shade with a moisture rich finish. I wear it with a lip liner but I haven’t had any real issues with it wandering. As it wears down, it wears down evenly leaving a berry-like stain.
Shade: Punta Cana
A vivid fuchsia that has no shimmer. This shade has major color pay-off. One swipe and it’s intense. The formula is comfortable and moisturizing. I feel like this is one of those shades that will work with a range of complexions. As it wears off, it wears off evenly too. I love this color. Love it.
Overall, I really like the formula and shades of these. They’re comfortable and highly pigmented, just like the brand’s claims. Both of these look great directly out of the tube or plotted for less “shine”. I recommend these to anyone that likes a creamy lippie that offers major color payoff.
*Both of these seem to make my skin look yellow but I feel like the colors of the lippies are accurate. New goal – get better at photography.
Essential Lip Gloss
Described as a “high shine gloss with intense color payoff”.
Shade: Vienna
Sheer pink with cool blue shimmer. It’s really sheer with some sparkle. I’m awful at reviewing lip glosses because it appears I want what other people don’t. I tend to prefer thicker (but not sticky) glosses. This is a thicker formula with no stickiness. Because it’s thicker, it lasts longer and moisturizes. There’s a faint floral aroma.
Packaging is rather simple. No bells or whistles. It has a doe-foot applicator.
Overall, I like the formula. The color is fine but I prefer wearing it over lipstick because I like a bolder lip look. I feel so washed out when I don’t wear lipstick. The blue sparkles do that “teeth whitening” trick and emphasize coolness in cool-toned lipstick or helps to neutralize warm-toned lipsticks. It’s a good shade to have around because of this.
Lip Colors retail for $22. Lip Gloss retails for $16. Available at Cargo Cosmetics and Beauty.com.

Napa FOTD
Here’s my entire face using the shade, Napa. I’m really into 70’s metallic lids and glossy lips lately.

Vienna FOTD
There has to be a word or phrase for when you feel like your makeup looks amazing in person but every single time you take a picture <cough, cough, a selfie>, you look wacky. Well, whatever this is called (or not), this was my day. I was sooo sick of photographing it so, I gave up. And then I walked around in REAL LIFE enjoying my “damn, this doesn’t photograph well at all” makeup look because life is too short. Also, my face is red because Vitamin C serums are cruel like that. I’m going to officially quit Vitamin C serums. And obviously, the light is not natural. Oh, and pollen allergies. Excuses, excuses… Anyway, this pic is bad but I promised I felt cute and really that’s all that matters 😉
FACE – Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer in Corrector | Bésame Brightening Violet Powder, ColourPop Blush in Rain
EYES – Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre Brow Pencil in Natural Blonde | Ulta Eye Brow Gel | Milani Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow Pencil in Royal Purple | Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection in Petal Pusher (3 shades), Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Empire, Benefit They’re Real Mascara in Black
LIPS – Cargo Essential Lip Gloss in Vienna
HAIR – I ended up dying my hair with One ‘n Only Demi Perm Hair Dye in Light Ash Brown. I was tired of blonde-ish. I just need to style it and well, get it trimmed but I need to find someone in NYC to do that won’t charge me a thousand bucks.
And that’s the end of this picture-heavy post. Have a great weekend!

I think you look gorgeous in all of the looks but especially love the one with the purple/blue smokey eyes.
I feel like everything makes my face red these days, stupid rosacea.
Thank you. I can’t wait for the weather to get less sweaty so I can wear smokey eye makeup without it melting it off.
🙁 Rosacea can be so hard to manage. It’s hard to figure out what can work. I realized today after noticing some flushing on my chest/neck/face that maybe some new medications may be causing this? That can happen, right? I feel like I’ve been really red this past month (and there’s the entire new ragweed/hay fever thing). I just know that my skin has been more sensitive than usual. Joy.
I have such sensitive skin makeup can be a problem for me, although I used to love wearing it all the time. I can’t even wear eye makeup, except for mascara, due to sensitivities and allergies. The last time I tried to wear eyeshadow almost two years ago I got an eczema type reaction and swelling around my eyes that wouldn’t go away and I wound up in the dermatologist office. Now I am having trouble with lip products causing irritation. I can’t seem to get a break. I really focus on non-irritating skin care and my skin looks good now, but I still miss the makeup.
I’m so sorry. Anything skin related is truly terrible. And what’s so awful about it too is that it can occur at any time. Allergies are terrible.
A friend of mine has a similar issue which was very painful – eye swelling, rash. She doesn’t wear any eye makeup anymore which is a bummer for her because she loves makeup. I’ve read that this happens a lot with anything with red dyes (purples, oranges, rust shades). But, she has this issue with all colors and of course, doesn’t want to keep trying the to see!
