Capsule Parfums Urbane EDP Perfume Review

Capsule Parfums Urbane

Capsule Parfums are a line of smaller “pocket” sized fragrances obviously marketed to the “20-something” crowd. Urbane is a perfume inspired by “the zest of urban life”.

I’m the type of person that absolutely loves living in urban areas. Suburbs freak me out and rural areas give me panic attacks. As far as “zest of urban life”, I really don’t know what to say about that. I love living the way that I do but I do encounter lots of “urban zest”, just check out any of my Smell Diaries. I guess what I’m getting at is that “urban” seems like an odd inspiration for a perfume. I mean, it’s a way of life for most people. It’s like a perfume inspired by “computer science” or “washing your dishes”.*

Urbane is a cool citrus with tons of white musk. At this stage it reminds me of a masculine designer fragrance but I’m at a loss of which one. It’s really cool and “fresh”. Metallic florals great you, rather aggressively like those college-age kids that stand at every corner downtown trying to get you to donate to some non-profit. It dries down to a rather squeaky clean chypre with Ivory soap-like florals and moss.

Notes listed include bergamot, blood orange pulp, davana flower, honeysuckle, white musk, tonka beans and oakmoss.

Urbane is one to try if you like citrus or like the thought of a “modern moss” fragrance. Try it if you like perfumes like Banana Republic M, Atelier Orange Sanguine, Acqua di Parma Colonia, Halle Berry Closer, Cartier Declaration and/or Chanel Platinum Egoiste. All of the Capsule Parfums are marketed as unisex. This one is (all fragrances are) but I do think it leans more towards the masculine end of the spectrum. It reminds me of designer masculines marketed to young guys.

Projection is average and longevity is below average. I would recommend it for wear in warm climates or as a day fragrance. I think this *could* be a good choice for teenage boys.

The 1/2 oz bottle retails for $38 at Beautyhabit.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONCool, metallic citrus over squeaky clean soap and moss. This one is not for me at all. The aggressive opening puts me off. The opening represents the things that get on my nerves living in the city…which is mainly tourists and those kids that jump out at you at street corners wanting to shake your hand so that you’ll give money to a non-profit…or whatever the heck they do. Anyway, this one isn’t me but I think if I were a 15 year old cis-male, then maybe I’d like it.

*It makes sense to me that there are “country” inspired perfumes because I feel that most of us don’t get to the mountains and forests. This makes sense to me.
