By Kilian Bamboo Harmony EDP Perfume Review

By Kilian Bamboo Harmony EDP

Bamboo Harmony is one of the new fragrances in By Kilian’s Asian Tales Collection. I wasn’t very optimistic about this collection because I don’t like light and watery fragrances. I’m glad I kept my expectations low with this one.

Bamboo Harmony opens as a very sharp citrus (bergamot and bigarade) and something that could be white tea. It doesn’t smell like actual white tea but it smells like what we know as white tea in the perfume world. I pick up on a neroli “talcum powder” that is soft, fresh and floral. The dry down is a very soft “white tea” with white musk and a hint of mimosa and some very abstract spice. The overall feel of this fragrance is light and watery…just like I expected.

My first impression with this scent is that all of the Bvlgari Thé fragrances had been thrown together – citrus from Thé Vert, white tea of Thé Blanc, and the fig cardamom of Thé Rouge. And this isn’t bad. I think Bvlgari did a wonderful job with their Thé fragrances. In fact, they did such a good job it’s difficult for me to enjoy Bamboo Harmony. Bamboo Harmony seems very much like a Jean Claude Ellena perfume. And that’s fine but I feel that Bamboo Harmony already exists, so what’s the point?

Hokusai Waterfall

Notes listed include bergamot, bigarade, neroli, white tea leaves, mimosa, spices, mate, fig leaves, and oak moss. PERFUMER – Calice Becker

Try Kilian Bamboo Harmony if you like white tea fragrances. Or if you like perfumes like Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, any of the Bvlgari Thé perfumes, L’Occitane Thé Vert, A Dozen Roses Electron, Bath and Body Works White Tea & Ginger, and/or Tocca Bianca. I find Bamboo Harmony to be a unisex fragrance just like the Bvlgari ones.

I find projection to be average and longevity to be below average for this scent. I find the price to be above average and in the ridiculous category.

The 1.7 oz By Kilian Bamboo Harmony retails for $260 at Nordstrom.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONA light citrus tea fragrance. Honestly, I am very disappointed by this one (even with my low expectations). In fact, when I think about the price, I get mad. You’re lucky I didn’t rant on this one 😉 Bamboo Harmony is pleasant and I see how people could like it but these people need to sniff some cheaper stuff too before jumping in and buying a bottle of By Kilian. I find Bamboo Harmony completely unnecessary. Bvlgari already has this base covered. And theirs are affordable.

  1. I found it to be a perfectly inoffensive, boring, designer clone. What’s offensive is charging big moolah for it.

  2. I would love… no LOVE to wear this perfume for a while in summer. I just know that I’m not paying that price for that perfume. I’m not saying it’s not worth it but it’s not worth it for me. But a bottle from the sky is completely welcome (just carefully packed – those are heavy 😉 ).
Undina recently posted..We need to talk… Do we really?

    1. I failed to mention that I own all of the Bvlgaris that mentioned in this review. So, I do like these sort of things (or at least really liked them at some time in my life). It’s the price of this one that gets to me. The bottle/packaging is gorgeous but I’m not paying $150+ just for a bottle.

Oh, how I wish perfumes would carefully fall from the sky!

  3. Oh my gosh. It’s $225 a bottle for not-that-special-juice? That’s criminal.

Especially when compared to Bvlgari. Thanks for the review! I will be reaching for the Thé Vert instead!

    1. I feel like at the $225 price point, it better smell special and not really remind me of anything else that I’ve ever tried…especially something I can get for under $100.
Oh, well. It is a nice scent, just too familiar to cheaper stuff that I own.

  4. […] TokyoMilk No. 16 Ex Libris EDP – What the what!? I used up another perfume? Yes, but I made it a priority. I only had a small amount of this cardamom fig tea (which very much resembles Bvlgari Thé Rouge which resembles By Kilian Bamboo Harmony). […]
