Boxwalla Beauty June 2016 Box – Unboxing & Review

Boxwalla Beauty Box

The theme for Boxwalla Beauty’s June Box was “Wandering Woman Must-Haves”. These are products that are easy to travel with and contain ingredients from around the globe.

Here’s what was in the box:

Gressa Skin Tin

Gressa Lumière Luminous Complexion Fluid in Elise (full-size, $28 value) – I had no idea what this was so with research I found out that this brand is based in the PNW and that this is an all-purpose tint. It’s a shimmery pink liquid to use on lips, cheeks and lids. I’d compare it to products like Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer or Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. It has a faint “oil” and rosemary oil aroma. This shade is like a very bold, cool-tone magenta with shimmer. Since I had no experience with it, at first when I applied it, it was straight up disco, giving me Grace Jones in the 80’s blush. I quickly learned that this is a really pigmented product! For a subtle flush, I’ve been mixing it with a face lotion and applying to cheeks. And sometimes I like to go all out disco with it which means full-pigment and monochrome cheeks and lips. It’s pretty and I like it. Added bonus, it has a lot of great skincare ingredients like CoQ10 and broccoli oil.

Here’s swatches because the pink is much, much bolder than the swatches on the brand’s site:

Now to the other four items…

Henne Lip Scrub

Henné Organics Rose Diamonds Lip Exfoliator (full-size, $24 value) – As someone that wears matte and dark lipsticks, I do use lip scrubs frequently. This scrub smells and tastes like a rose macaron, so I’m in love. This scrub is amazing.

Rachel's Plan Bee

Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Polish in Original (full-size, $20 value) – This is a sugar scrub that has a nourishing, balmy like texture. The scent, Original, is like an orange cream pop. Other scents are also available. It’s a good scrub that leaves the skin feeling moisturized.

Rachel’s Plan B Original Bee Cream (travel-size, about a $4 value) – This is a thick balm to use on hands or dry spots. It smells like the body polish. It’s good too but I wish it didn’t have citrus oils. I prefer for products that I don’t wash off to not have citrus oils. But, it is a good cuticle cream.

Total – $76 value (plus or minus a few bucks)

These were all new-to-me brands. After trying Gressa and Henné, I want to check out more from them. They really are luxurious natural products (and let’s face it, most natural cosmetics have a formula that isn’t comparable to department store brands).

Overall, I was very pleased with this box. These are all products that I’m going to use. This box also made me a fan of Henné.

I’ve expressed my PROS/CONS with Boxwalla and you read that here as it still mostly applies.

Boxwalla Beauty Boxes are available every two months and retail for $49.95 at Boxwalla. This also includes shipping.

Also, with the beauty box, all products are cruelty-free; however, most products are not vegan. Most products are natural or natural-ish. I’m not an expert in the arena of cruelty-free and/or natural beauty products, nor does my blog primarily focus on these. I don’t mind synthetic fragrances, beeswax, etc. in my products so I’m happy with this box. Saying that, so far the boxes have contained products that are not vegan or contain synthetic scents.

*What is Boxwalla? Boxwalla is a box subscription service. Or you can buy them one-time. What makes Boxwalla different than a lot of other services is that there are four themes or interests: Beauty, Book, Food and Film. The boxes are available every two months and you can choose which type of box you’d like.

    1. Thank you for your post 🙂

It should! I was really surprised by its potency. Luckily, I tried it on my hand first before directly applying it to my face for the first time!

    1. It’ a THING! I learned about it, well “broccoli seed oil”. Apparently, it’s a good anti-oxidant for hair/skin. And it absorbs quickly. So, yeah, this box taught me something.
