Bond No. 9 usually makes perfumes inspired by places in NYC, but apparently with their extensive catalogue they needed to branch out as all the New York references have been exhausted. I mean they launched a Queens perfume this year…Anyway, last year they launched a couple of perfumes inspired by the community of perfume lovers instead of locations in NYC. There was WWW DOT Bond Whatever and this one, Perfumista Ave. I playfully poked fun at the names last year in my 2013 List, but this year I finally got around to trying them.
Perfumista Avenue opens as a metallic saffron with “pink” florals and a juicy stone fruits. From a distance, it’s all red roses, the closer it gets to my nose, the more I pick up on that savory saffron. Perfumista Avenue wears as a sharp rose-y floral with savory spices and musk. It eventually dries down to a musky patchouli rose.
Overall, Perfumista Avenue is one of those “rouge” rose perfumes. It’s slightly fruity, slightly spicy but mostly it’s rose. I’m a rose lover, so I’d be happy to have a fictional, fantasy address that smells like roses. But, rose is a polarizing note and I know plenty self-identifying “perfumistas” that don’t want to smell like roses 🙂
Notes listed include artemisia, plum, saffron, nutmeg, rose oil, rose water, peony, jasmine, amber, patchouli, musk and mate. Launched 2013.
Give Perfumista Avenue a try if you like rose perfumes. Or if you like perfumes like Avon Christian Lacroix Rouge, Terry de Gunzburg Rouge Nocturne, Yves Saint Laurent Majestic Rose, Viktor & Rolf Rose Explosion and/or Agent Provocateur. Perfumista Avenue smells like a Bond No. 9 perfume. I actually “blind sniffed” it and recognized it as a Bond No. 9.
Projection is average. Longevity is above average.
Perfumista Avenue comes in 2 sizes (1.6 and 3.3 oz) with prices ranging from $270-$350 at Nordstrom.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Red roses, saffron and plums – “sharp” floral amber. I love roses so I do like wearing this. However, being a rose lover, I own a lot of rose perfumes. And I already have this “sharp yet savory red rose” base covered. I can’t justify adding this one to my collection, especially at this price point. Real estate on Perfumista Ave. sure is expensive…
