Belle Fleur is a line of candles and home fragrance created by a floral designer. I absolutely love when those with a “floral background” get involved with fragrances. If you read EauMG, you know that I have a little candle problem. Well, I don’t think it is a problem but my husband does. I love fancy candles and Belle Fleur is one of those lines that I love.
Palo Santo is a fragrance in the Exotic Wood Collection. It’s a rich, woodsy fragrance that is amazing. It reminds me of burning exotic wood chips (like oud and sandalwood). There is a hint of powdery florals. But, mostly Palo Santa is a smoky woods and a powdery amber with sweet copal.
The tree, palo santo, has a deeply rooted history of mysticism, believed to have cleaning and healing powers. Palo santo is now endangered due to over-harvesting, but I feel like this Belle Fleur candle captures what palo santo is revered for. This scent is smoky, like incense. The brand describes Palo Santo as “spiritual and sophisticated” and these are exactly the words that I would use to describe the scent. I like many scents from this line, but Palo Santo is one of my favorites.
Notes listed include ylang ylang, clove bud, heliotrope, violet, labdanum, amber, patchouli, styrax, guaiac wood, copal and oud.
If you like woodsy or home fragrances that lean more to the “masculine”, you will love Palo Santo. And I think if the brand made this into a personal fragrance, that’d it be very popular. Give it a try if you like home fragrances like the Amouage Ouds, Christian Tortu Bois de Oud, NEST Exotic Woods or Trapp No. 68 Teak & Oud Wood. I like this scent year round but I could see it being very cozy in the cooler months.
Like all the other Belle Fleur candles that I’ve tried, this one is smooth burning and has excellent throw. The vessel is a warm chocolate brown glass with a gold emblem. It’s neutral and it does go very nicely with my current decor.
The candle retails for $58 at Belle Fleur NYC. Yes, it’s costly but I find this brand to be worth it.
A candle that smells like Amouage ouds? Wow – that sounds amazing.. will have to sniff these the next time I am in NYC. Let’s visit the store together 🙂
You would love this one!
We should 🙂
I haven’t tried this one yet but it sounds amazing. I love woodsy, masculine scents. Have you tried Belle Fleur Indochine yet? I’m head over heals for that one! Absolutely insane. It’s also warm and relaxing with notes of patchouli and rosewood.
I love Indochine!
