BECCA The One Perfecting Brush Review

becca_brush

BECCA The One Perfecting Brush claims to replace 10 of your makeup brushes: foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki brush and sponge. I find this amazing for a few reasons. Reason #1 – People use 10 brushes on their face? Reason #2 – Technically any brush could replace ten brushes…if you are willing to sacrifice some quality in one area.

This is a goat hair brush that can be used with liquids, creams and powders. The bristles are non-porous and soft.

The brush is about 3.5 inches wide. It’s a rather huge brush. But, it’s not heavy and it feels comfortable to hold.

Used as Foundation Use the broad side of the brush.

It works great with pressed powder foundation. It’s a little awkward with loose mineral foundations; I prefer a kabuki brush with those. I don’t really like using it with liquid foundation. I found the shape awkward and I felt like the natural bristles absorbed too much of my liquid foundation.

Used as Highlighter BrushUse the narrow side of the brush.

I used with a powder highlighter. This works very well. One swipe. Bam! Done.

Used as a Contour or Bronzing BrushUse the narrow side of the brush.

This also works. One swipe. Bam! Done. Actually this is one of the best brushes that I’ve used for contouring cheeks with a powder product.

Used as a Blush BrushUse the corner of the brush to apply and buff blush.

It works like this. It does a good job with powder products. Personally, I don’t like using it with blush because it means I’d have to clean my brushes after every single use. And I’m sure that’s probably what I should be doing that anyway but I have no time for that.

Pros:

It’s a great brush for highlighting and contouring. The large shape actually makes it easier to use for this.

It’s a well-made brush. However, I have washed it a few times and it does shed. But, it doesn’t shed more than other natural hair brushes that I have.

Cons:

It’s a huge brush that doesn’t stand up on its own. It takes up more space than any other brush that I’ve used.

It’s a huge brush without a travel case. I would love if it had a case for travel especially since it claims to replace all of my pre-existing brushes. I hope that they consider making a travel case for this brush.

If it’s supposed to replace 10 brushes, that means it gets dirty with lots of different product. You’ll probably be cleaning this brush all of the time.

Does it actually replace 10 brushes? I wasn’t using 10 brushes to begin with and the brushes I use the most of are for eyes. So, it really doesn’t replace any of the brushes that I was using daily. And I really doubt it would replace 10 of your brushes. Plus, if you own 10 brushes, you probably love makeup and want to buy brushes 🙂 But, I do think it’s a great brush for natural looking contouring and highlighting.

BECCA The One brush retails for $49 and is available at Sephora.
