Back From NYC

EauMG is back from NYC! I hope to have a post about Elements Showcase and the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) soon.

However, today I’m running a fever (hope it is nothing, no time for this) and didn’t  write my post. I’m recycling my Facebook posts that I post on my personal page so that you get a feel of my trip to NYC 🙂

Hey, stop being a pervert. I had to have this in the wall to get electricity to the room.

NYC Day 1 – 13 hours of traveling. Not fun. Hotel bed is only as long as my legs. No joke. I have to share a bathroom/shower with 100+ other people. No joke. I have to insert a brass rod into a wall to get electricity. No joke. Super humid and my hair looks awful. Trying to decide if I should venture out tonight or stay in. It’s late and I’m hungry but I’m in NYC and I’m supposed to stay up all night. Also, the Nigerian cab driver that brought me from the airport to here said I look like a “very sensible and smart party person”. Is that a compliment?

French bulldog
How much is that doggy in the window? $2500+.

NYC Day 2 – So many French bulldogs. OMG. I seriously petted the hell out of 20+ Frenchies today. It was like a Frenchie petting zoo on Christopher Street this morning. Fragrance shopping all the live long day. Bought a Lipstick Queen Lipstick and ate smuggy raw, vegan food. MiN NY had some good stuff, really need to spend more time with the Keiko Mecheri line. Told CB of CB I Hate Perfumes that I love him but we are not getting married. In a strange weird way, I love the hotel I’m staying in. I feel like I’m on the Titanic but it can’t sink because it is on land. BBQ. Drinks. Fun. The Room references. Food, drinks, perfume, Tommy Wiseau, French bulldogs, what else do you need in life?

Stonewall Inn
Can we all buy the Stonewall Inn a better sign?

NYC Day 3 – Checked out of the teeny hotel only to move on to another teeny hotel. Went shopping all the live long day with Ron of Notable Scents. He bought some awesome Ted Baker pomegranate colored shoes. (Why am I telling you this? Because they are beautiful. That’s why.) I bought 2 Swatches (the Ron influence). We sniffed tons of perfumes. I sort of like the new Chanel Coco Noir. The only “celeb” I saw today was Phi Phi O’Hara of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4. I quickly gave her the stink eye and moved on with my life. Went to a rooftop party which was nice. The weather was perfect and the view was great.

NYC Day 4 – Went to Elements Showcase. I sniffed nice perfume and met old and new friends. It was wonderful to see people that I respect and appreciate. Spent the day sniffing. Then went to NYIGF where I was soy candled to death. There was a Keith Haring typewriter there. I need it. Talk me out of it*. Somebody gave me a bookmark made out of elephant dung. Lesson learned – you can make a living doing just about anything. Had a wonderful dinner. Now deciding if I should go out or not.

This thing was in the seat next to me.

NYC Day 5 – Visited Elements in the morning (trying to remember what I liked.) If I didnt say good-bye, I promised I tried to find you. Super quick trip to Aedes. They get points for using their dogs as decoration but get points taken away for not letting me in on Saturday. Then a meeting in Long Island City (sorry but Long Island City is a dump). Rushed to airport. Flight home included being seated next to a pug on drugs that wanted to join the Haus of Frug. This euphoric experience was ruined by 2 children barfing. What a great way to end a trip of smells!

*Regret not buying it. You have no idea.

    1. Out of all the queens to see walking down the street, who do I see? The least liked drag queen of all time.

      1. Was she tiny? I saw a Sharon Needles show and discovered I am now too old to go to things that start at 11:30 at night.

    1. I’m feeling better today. I think I’m fighting off a cold or something.

I got there at opening. Door locked. I went to Bigelow’s, bought some stuff, got a water at the market next door. This took about 30 minutes, went back and they were still “closed”. I waited around for about 10 minutes, still not opened. So I left.

  1. Hey! I just got back from NYC too! Saw Caron, Frederic Malle, Bond No. 9, Atelier Cologne, Le Labo, Barney’s, and Bergdorf’s! I didn’t go to any events, but it was a great time.
