Ayala Moriel Lost Lagoon Natural Perfume Review

Ayala Moriel Lost Lagoon

Lately I’ve been taking a short break from my usual roses and white florals and wearing chypres. The deal is that I don’t own many chypres so this makes me dig through my samples. I remembered that there was an Ayala Moriel perfume launched this year that I tried in the summer that screamed “MOSS”, Lost Lagoon.

Lost Lagoon opens as a bitter citrus with greens. There’s an aquatic/brine thing going on in the opening. The heart is a green floral chypre. It’s like dry moss and petals that have fallen to the ground. It dries down to a mossy, sweeter amber chypre. It’s the sort of base that’s such a classic chypre that when I smell it, all I can think about is a forest floor of moss and tree sap. It starts out like summer but it ends up feeling very autumnal.

  1. I have been playing with Moriel’s Film Noir. On me it starts with Dutch processed cocoa powder and the it warms through the patchouli notes. Definitely worth checking out when you and in a mood for patch.

    1. I had a sample of that one! Being a patch-head, I really loved it. I keep meaning to buy a mini. There’s also a bar soap in that scent that is awesome too.

Another natural patchouli that I love is Roxana Illuminated Fig. Noir. It’s so.much.patch. But, sometimes that’s exactly what I want.
