Atelier Cologne Trèfle Pur EDT Fragrance Review

Atelier Trefle Pur Cologne fragrance

Each of the Atelier Colognes tell a story. I see the copy and the vignettes as more of a peep show into a fictional perfume character’s daily life. Trèfle Pur tells an obtuse tell of luck…it is a clover fragrance.

“He had a good feeling about it. That’s the thing about luck, you feel it or you don’t. This moment, he felt it. He found the morning’s rain had left everything looking greener and a bit sharper, like he was seeing it all for the first time, and he headed off with a spring in his step.”

Trèfle Pur opens with a spicy, cool citrus with a hint of fresh basil. The scent reminds me of sweet lime and green basil with a few drops of classic eau de cologne. The scent gets grassier and greener with clover. Sometimes I swear that I get fresh ginger in this. The heart is a green, herbal “eau de cologne”. The scent continues to have a carefree, laissez-faire feel. The moss is more of a damp, dewy moss mixed with greens and a little bit of soapy neroli. With the dry-down, I get a faint sheer musk and smooth moss.

Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur

Notes listed include bitter orange, cardamom, basil, clover, violet leaves, neroli, patchouli moss and musk. PERFUMER – Jérome Epinette

Give Trèfle Pur a try if you are looking for a “green” eau de cologne or if you like perfumes like Bvlgari Thé Vert, L’Artisan Parfumeur Mandarine, Annick Goutal Eau d’Hadrien, Diptyque L’eau de Neroli, Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, and/or Penhaligon’s English Fern. Trèfle Pur is unisex despite the more masculine marketing angle Atelier has taken with this scent (the pic above). It’s fresh and green.

This scent has average projection and longevity. Even though “cologne” is in the name, it wears for much longer than a cologne. Trèfle Pur is a very refreshing scent and I recommend it for warmer weather/climates.

Atelier Colognes come in 2 sizes. The 1 oz. retails for $65 and the giant 6.7 oz retails for $170. Trèfle Pur is available at beauty.com.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONClover eau de cologne. Trèfle Pur is a simple and refreshing herbal scent. Warm weather scents don’t really fit in with my lifestyle but if I did live in a warmer place, I wouldn’t mind a small bottle of this.

  1. Hi Victoria,

Great timing on this review of Trefle Pur! I spent a sniff-happy hour in Essenza yesterday and ended buying a bottle and promptly wearing it to work this morning : )

I love that Atelier Cologne offers the 30ml size!

    1. Awesome! I really do enjoy this one and if I lived in a warmer climate, I’d buy it (already have Orange Sanguine for those hot days). I LOVE that they offer 30ml too! I really wish more perfume companies would do that.

  2. This is one of my favorites. I would add that it layers very well. In winter, when it may seem too green and light, it can be used under a rose or fig scent for more body.

    1. You’ve inspired me.
I actually wore this one a bit in the spring (we had a warmer than average spring) and I can totally see it working well with a fresh rose type scent in milder weather. This rose would be the perfect spring fragrance.
