Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine EDT Fragrance Review

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine

I bought a bottle of Atelier Orange Sanguine when I got the idea in my head that I was moving to L.A.last year. After going through my perfume collection and daydreaming of moving to a small apartment once inhabited by Lilian Gish, I realized that all of my perfumes were “autumn” perfumes and this wasn’t going to work in my new life. I needed something citrus since this seems so logical for the sunny Hollywood weather. But, here’s the deal, I’m an “autumn” fragrance person. I don’t like citrus or sheer stuff! How would I have made it in Hollywood?

Orange Sanguine is one of the few citrus perfumes that I enjoy wearing. It has a robustness that so many other citrus perfumes lack. It opens with a big blast of mouth-watering juicy orange. This orange stays present and other things appear like “green” white florals and tons of white musk. Crisp geranium emphasizes the orange’s tartness. It gets less juicy with time and more like orange peel. It wears rather linear like oranges and some “green” florals. It eventually dries down to a variation of this. Just add dry woods with the white musk.

Notes listed include blood orange, bitter orange, jasmine, geranium, amber woods, tonka bean and sandalwood. Launch date 2010. PERFUMER – Ralph Schwieger

Give Orange Sanguine a try if you are looking for an orange perfume. Or if you like perfumes like Malle Cologne Bigarade, Pacfica Tuscan Blood Orange, Tocca Stella, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarine-Basilic and/or D.S. & Durga Italian Citrus. It’s completely unisex.

Orange Sanguine has average projection and longevity. For an orange perfume, it’s the longest wearing that I’ve tried.

After traveling to L.A. earlier this year, I realized I didn’t like it there. It wasn’t very “me”. I’m an autumn fragrance person, I wear too much black and I recycle.

Orange Sanguine comes in 3 sizes (1 oz- 6.8 oz) with prices ranging from $60-$155 at Beautyhabit.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONVibrant juicy orange over musk. It’s not complex but it is the cure for all of my orange cravings.

  1. I’ve been meaning to try this. I keep looking for an orange blossom that is photo-realistic. Haven’t found it.

We have a place (dinky) in Tuscon. I still wear black (linen, light cotton) and our little community is starting up recycling and green recycle. Never give up black!!

Our heat! Sometimes. The first year we came up to Seattle we watched the 4th of July fireworks wearing our ski jackets. Summer started on July 5th. It always does.

    1. This photo-realistic orange. Have to think about the orange blossom. Oh, not the same but worth trying – Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom. It actually smells like lemon blossom and it’s cheap.

My closet is like a battle of good and evil. 25% clown prints and 75% black. How can I fight a color that makes one look slimmer?

I admit that I like the mildness over heat. But, sometimes I miss it. It just feels good when you haven’t had it in forever. I am now the person that starts sweating when it’s 70 degrees.

    1. It has personality! I guess that is my beef with so many citrus perfumes. I find them too vapid. This one has some “umph”.

    1. Now if only the weather could get all summery for me try it out 😉

It’s perfect for summer but it does have enough “heft” to work in cooler weather unlike other citrus perfumes.
