It’s still hot and humid. This has me revisiting “fresh” fragrances like those in the Atelier Cologne Absolues “Collection Originale“. I’ve been in the mood for a fresh vanilla like Vanille Insensée and the green clover “eau de cologne” Trèfle Pur. I’ve worn Bois Blonds for a few days and couldn’t believe that I haven’t reviewed it yet. Bois Blonds is like an “incense eau de cologne”.
Bois Blonds opens up with spicy pink pepper with a splash of orange blossom water. The pink pepper is dry, spicy and slightly fruity. Bois Blonds is a neroli but it’s also a “sparkling incense”. It’s like glimmering frankincense embedded within an orange blossom cologne. It’s bright and resinous. I also love the dry-down of Bois Blonds. It’s like a salty vetiver with dry driftwood. The overall feel is like a mass on a Mediterranean coast.
Notes listed include neroli, pink pepper, Moroccan orange flower, incense, light wood, musk, and Haitian vetiver. Launched in 2010. PERFUMER – Jérome Epinette
Give Bois Blonds a try if you want a “summer incense” or a vetiver cologne. Or if you like perfumes like Olivier Durbano Citrine, Comme des Garcons PLAY Black, Annick Goutal Myrrhe Ardent, Hermès Eau des Merveilles, Chanel Allure Homme Sport and/or Dior Homme Cologne.
I find that projection is average and longevity below average. I get about 3-4 hours from it.
The 1 oz retails for $85 and the 3.3 oz retails for $145 at Sephora and Beautyhabit.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Incense in your eau de cologne. You can add this to your “summer incense” perfume list. I’m going to add it to my rotation of perfumes to wear on hot, humid days.

I bought a box of rollons of the “Collection Originale” and Bois Blonds was my definite fave.
That’s what I have too 🙂
Hey Victoria,
A summer incense sounds great.
I don’t know why but the Atelier Cologne line has never felt like a good fit for me. Trefle Pur was the closest I’ve come to really falling. Yet….

I didn’t really “click” with this line until I had to experience a hot summer (and actually be out in it). I’m really craving all these sort of safe/fresh scents in this environment 🙂
