aroma M Voluptuous Nostalgia is a limited edition perfume with copy that sounds like it was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday“. It’s inspired by seeing Rome from a Vespa…decades ago.
Voluptuous Nostalgia opens like pineapples and white florals. It the becomes a sweet, creamy white floral. It’s almost like a “gardenia custard”. It dries down to a warm, gilded amber with a hint of floral spiciness.
Voluptuous Nostalgia reminds me of another limited edition perfume by Maria McElroy (Lil or Lilith, I can’t remember the exact name). I bought a bottle of it and it unfortunately leaked within my carry-on. I bought it because it had an old-school Caron feel to it. It was like gilded citrus and tuberose. Voluptuous Nostalgia reminds me of the one I have but with a substitution of gardenia for tuberose. Voluptuous Nostalgia is creamier and sweeter.
I don’t really think of Audrey Hepburn or Rome with this fragrance. I’ve always thought of that inspiration as “greener”. Instead Voluptuous Nostalgia with its blend of sweet and white florals, makes me think of an “over the top”, blonde sex symbol aesthetic…like a vintage aesthetic as seen through modern lenses.
Notes listed include muget, gardenia, ambergris, tonka bean, amber and violet. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Maria McElroy
Give Voluptuous Nostalgia a try if you like sweeter white florals. Or if you like perfumes like Sarah Horowitz Perfect Gardenia, Monyette Paris, Olivine Parfums Olivine, Sage Machado Moonstone and/or Madonna Truth or Dare.
Voluptuous Nostalgia wears closely to the skin but has lasting power. It sort of wears like oil-based perfumes.
The 1.7 oz bottle retails for $225 at aroma M. Samples are also available for purchase.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Sweet floral amber. When I crave these sort of florals, I typically wear Olivine or Sage Machado oils. This just ins’t a genre I wear enough to spend more than $60 on. But, if it is what you like, it’s worth at least sampling.
