April Aromatics Calling All Angels EDP Natural Perfume Review

April Aromatics Calling All Angel

The niche perfume market has lots of incense themed perfumes to choose from. After a while I grew tired of these because it felt like so many of them were redundant. (At that time I had found Etro Messe de Minuit and was satisfied). I know that this genre continues to attract people because of nostalgia. Many of us have associations with “church” incense. Out of the genre of “spiritual” incense, I think April Aromatics Calling All Angels is one of the best.

If you are an incense lover, you will want to try this one. Calling All Angels opens as a singing choir of ancient resins. It’s a peppery incense with citrus-y resins. After the brightness fades, I’m left with the smoke from burning resins. It’s a softer more diffused incense resin. The dry-down is a soft yet resinous honeyed-amber incense.

I’ve tried a lot of incense-centric perfumes and I really do believe this is one of the best.

Notes listed include incense, labdanum, tonka, vanilla, benzoin, elemi, frankincense, amber, honey, precious woods, oponax, and rose otto. PERFUMER – Tanja Boching

Give Calling All Angels a try if you like incense perfumes. Or if you like perfumes like Sonoma Scent Studio Incense Pure, Comme de Garcons Incense Avignon, HEELEY Cardinal, Montale Full Incense and/or Olivier Durbano Citrine. Calling All Angels is marketed as natural but one doesn’t have to be a fan of naturals to enjoy this perfume.

Calling All Angels has average projection and above average longevity. This is outstanding for a natural perfume.

The 1 oz EDP retails for €169 at April Aromatics. A discovery set is also available for purchase. Yes, I admit that the price is off-putting. But, I can’t deny that it is a really good fragrance.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONAuthentic incense. Like I said, I’ve tried many and I think this is one of the best.

  1. A sucker for incense, I am duly lemming. I’m curious what you’d make of Sideris and Exultat, respectively a violet and a rose take on incense from Maria Candida Gentile and also crazy expensive. If I had some, I’d send it to you. Oh well!

    1. I’ve tried those but haven’t given them much of a wear. I tend to like what is in the Maria Candida Gentile line but I’m finding they just do not last on my skin. I’m not one that thinks things have to stick around for 24 hours, but at that price I expect more than a few hours of wear. I know one of those, I think Sideris, vanishes on me within a few hours. It’s incredibly nice while its there.

I *almost* bought Lady Day but talked myself out of it.

  2. Thank you Victoria for the beautiful review. I am happy that you love Calling all Angels. I have put a lot of time and testing into the completion of CAA, exactly 3 years…and am very happy with the result myself. Its a perfect winter and cold weather scent.

    Happy Holidays,
