If you’re an Amazon Prime member, I’m sure you can relate to late night shopping and then a box arrives with the most random contents ever. That’s the Amazon experience.
I went through my 2017 purchases and thought I’d share all the beauty-related stuff I bought from Amazon:
Glyderm Gentle Cleanser – I only want to use low pH cleansers now. This one is gentle and does the job. It was one of my favorite products of 2016.
Kinglake 100 Clear Disposable Shower Caps – Let’s all laugh because only Amazon would convince you that you should buy 100 clear shower caps because it’s a “good deal”. If I deep condition my hair once a week, this is going to last over 2 years…um, OK. I guess that’s a good deal, right?
Neocell Beauty Infusion Cranberry Cocktail – You know, why did I stop with the collagen? I reviewed this here. It did make a difference with my skin. *added to my cart along with a random addition of French toothpaste and an air mattress….seriously*
Holika Holika Gudetama Lazy Egg Makeup Sponge – I didn’t buy this. This was something my husband bought me since I’m really into the relatable Gudetama. Ugh, this is so cute that I haven’t used it. I have problems.
Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel – I bought this because Fanserviced-B said we should. It’s OK for body but just too drying for my face.
Weleda Edelweiss SPF 33 – I bought this because I couldn’t have Japan having better Weleda than I can get my hands on. I waited months for it and it’s just some weird mineral-ish (AKA ashy) sunscreen that smells too strongly of herbs. Long story short, the US isn’t missing out.
Vichy Idéal Capital Soleil SPF 60 – This is one of my favorite body sunscreens. Read about that here.
Denman Be-Bop Massage Brush – Somehow my spouse broke my last shower comb. HOW?! I’ve it for like a decade. Anyway, I ordered this one for scalp massages and for combing through conditioners before I put on one of my many 100 clear disposable shower caps.
La Roche-Posay Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Face Wash (x2) – This one has replaced my Glyderm for the year. Why? It’s just as gentle but it’s cheaper. The bottles are huge, so I think they’re a great value.
CosRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence – I’ve used this before so it’s a repurchase. I remember really liking it but that was years ago when the selection of k-beauty wasn’t that great in the US. Anyway, I still like it. It “plumps” my skin and layers wonderfully over the crappy, grainy The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension 23%. This isn’t a product for everyone as it is sort of sticky and “heavy”, but I love that. I just want to look glossy and shiny.
Do you buy beauty products from Amazon? If so, what sort of damage did you do in 2017?
I don’t buy beauty products from Amazon because of my paranoia that they’ll turn out to be fakes. Do you have any tips for making sure you’re buying the genuine articles?

I don’t really have any tips other than I don’t buy much. I read reviews, feedback and try to buy from brands’ shops like La Roche-Posay or Ziaja. The key is to buy from Prime.
I’m able to buy k-beauty stuff in person but my friends that blog and are into it swear they haven’t bought a fake via Amazon THROUGH Prime. I guess Amazon is much more strict for Prime sellers and have teams that vet them. Reddit has some tips: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/35ki51/buying_from_amazon/
I always buy the pack of 5 microfiber washcloths. They are super gentle and get my skin perfectly clean. They don’t last (for me) more than 5-6 months or so and then get kinda gross but I don’t mind repurchasing because they are so cheap. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QXC5YGO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use washcloths daily. Most of them don’t last longer than a few months, even the more $ ones.
I’ll have to check these out 🙂
I trust it more if it says “shipped by and sold by Amazon”. I’ve never gotten a fake that way.
YES. This.
I haven’t either like this. Oddly, the only time I think I have received a fake was with an Auric Blends perfume oil. Those are soooo cheap, why would someone make a fake of those?! And the price I paid was the price that a real Auric Blends sells for. I bought it from a non-Prime, non”Shipped by and sold by Amazon” or authorized brand.
Here’s my Amazon beauty haul for the year…

I should switch the the Toleraine for normal to dry skin, though the one I’m using is fine. I didn’t notice the other option when I bought mine.
I think I’ve said here before that I’m not buying the Acure face scrub again. I kinda hate it.
Those bath salts are the best. An AirBnB that I stayed at last spring had them for guests. Those coupled with the soaking tub they had was my best bath ever.
Ohhh, so many nifty things (and new-to-me things).
Because it’s winter, I’ve been so into bath salts and bath oils. I must check out that soak. ALSO, should I just buy that razor already? I need to stop messing around with stupid disposable razors.
I was surprised at how much sunscreen I bought on Amazon this year. I ended up in a wine soaked convo about my favorite sunscreens with a Call Sun worshipper on Xmas eve. I felt like the way I imagine religious zealots feel when trying to convert people.
RIGHT?! I try not to be evangelical about it, but it’s like, it’s more than vanity, it’s health. For example, my cousin is staying with me this weekend, I hope she is prepared for another attempt of my conversion.
