Aether Arts Reefer Madness Perfume Oil Review

Aether Arts Reefer Madness

A few years ago, I put together a guide of perfumes with marijuana accords. Since then, there’s been many more launched with the theme of “high perfumery”. In fact, Colorado based, Aether Arts, has an entire collection of fragrances dedicated to weed, The Cannabis Series.

Reefer Madness is the fourth perfume in this series. The name comes from the delightfully terrible exploitation “movie with a moral” turned midnight movie flick, Reefer Madness. To my surprise, this perfume brings to mind the sort of women that I’d like to have ran around with in the 1930’s.

Reefer Madness has a sticky, green cannabis accord paired with the sort of honeysuckle that reminds me of summers in the Deep South. It wears like sticky, sweet and green marijuana with heady, Southern florals. The heart becomes a sweet, indolic jasmine with dried grass clippings. The dry-down smells like a grand vintage perfume. It’s animalic leather, grassy vetiver and jasmine. This dry-down is sultry, sexy or whatever adjective you want to use to describe such things.

This perfume brings to mind a fantasy of 30’s era jazz clubs in New Orleans. It’s Southern florals, illegal substances and the perfume of a woman who wears a dress that’s a little too tight. I’m all about this fantasy.

Viviane Romance

Notes include cannabis accord, gardenia, honeysuckle, jasmine and animalic notes*. Launched in 2015. PERFUMER – Amber Jobin

Give Reefer Madness a try if you like the sound of a cannabis floral. Or if you like perfumes like Demeter Cannabis Flower, House of Matriarch Forbidden, DSH Perfumes The Cannabis Culture Collection and/or Mark Buxton Devil in Disguise. Or if you like the thought of Molinard Habanita smoking a joint.

Projection is average. Longevity is above average.

Reefer Madness comes in a few sizes with the 5.5 ml bottle retailing for $58 at Aether Arts. Samples are also available for purchase.

Victoria’s Final EauPINIONMarijuana and Southern florals. It’s how I want to believe that old time-y Southern speakeasies smelled like. And I’m really digging that fantasy.

    1. Thank you for sharing it with me! I have a few more of your more recent releases that I haven’t reviewed yet but really love 🙂

  1. This sounds right up my alley. I’m also realizing how I haven’t really explored cannabis much as a perfumery note, so that needs to change.

    1. It’s an accord worth exploring. Many times it comes across as vetiver-y which is good. Like more vetiver-y than vetiver!
