Rose Week 2015
Aether Arts Ginger Rose is an indie perfume inspired by vintage beauties. It’s a 1940’s style aldehydic floral inspired by a fictional beauty, Miss Ginger Rose. The perfumer says, “The perfume took on a personality as it came together. I could see her in my mind’s eye: Miss Ginger Rose, an up-and-coming new starlet; or maybe a beautiful debutante, the darling of the society page. Who will you be when you wear Ginger Rose?”
Ginger Rose opens as a spicy ginger with citrus. It’s aldehydic pickled ginger. There’s a honeyed element to Ginger Rose. It becomes a soft, powdery rose with warm ginger spice. The heart of this fragrance is gorgeous. It’s a soft, powdery rose and orris that is like French dusting powder and satin sheets. It’s soft and floral yet perfectly balanced by indoles. The dry-down is equally as gorgeous. It’s powdery sandalwood and honeyed amber with a trace of heady florals.
Ginger Rose is a silky va-va-voom floral that opens with a blast of ginger and dries down to the perfect “skin scent”. I’m still Victoria when I wear it though. I was hoping to it would give me perfect Rita Hayworth red hair but it didn’t. 😉
Notes listed include aldehydes, pink peppercorn, bergamot, ginger, Bulgarian rose, white rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, carnation, heliotrope, tonka bean, benzoin, amber, orris, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, beeswax and indoles. Launched 2013. PERFUMER – Amber Jobin
Give Ginger Rose a try if you like ginger scents or spicy floral ambers. Or if you like perfumes like Jean Paul Gaultier Classique EDT, Providence Perfume Co. Ginger Lily, Origins Ginger Essence and/or Etat Libre d’Orange Bendelirious.
Projection is below average; it wears close to the skin. Longevity is above average.
Ginger Rose comes in a few sizes with the 5.5 ml retailing for $58 at Aether Arts. Samples are also available for purchase.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Soft, powdery floral amber with ginger and aldehydes. It’s a lovely perfume. I like the ginger in it but I can’t help but to be reminded of sushi when I smell ginger. So, to me this is like wearing a fancy French perfume while at your favorite sushi joint. Which is a compliment because I love fancy French perfume and sushi.
