A Beautiful Life Mermaid’s Kiss Body Creme & Body Scrub Review

Jersey Shore
Jersey Shore

Now that I live in a place where the beaches aren’t just piles of rocks being hit by massive waves, I need to step up my mermaid game. This summer I’ve actually went to a beach…in a bikini. During this time, my skin saw more sun than it ever did over the eight years of living in Washington (still slathered in sunscreen, of course). And it’s time to step up my mermaid game. And A Beautiful Life is here to support me after my epiphany.

ABL Brands Mermaid's Kiss

Mermaid’s Kiss is a bath/body and fragrance line by A Beautiful Life Brands. It’s scented with notes of lime, pineapple and French cypress. This combo actually works really, really well together. This makes me happy because who would have thought there was still a combo of notes that work really well together that hasn’t been exhausted to heck and back yet?

So creme-y.

Mermaid’s Kiss Shimmering Body Creme

This cream is like the perfect texture. It’s thick but “whipped”. It absorbs quickly while actually moisturizing. Living through the 90’s (and old enough to remember them), I admit that I was a bit spooked by the “shimmering” in the title. However, it, like the formula, is also perfect. The shimmer is so fine, so subtle that it actually looks natural. All the kids these days think they invented “strobing”. But, that was something we’ve been doing for a long time. Think of this cream like a “strobe cream” for the body. It makes my skin look flawless. I highly recommend it for pale, dull complexions like mine that for some reason, are seeing the light of day.

The scent of the cream is like pineapple with sprigs of evergreens. It’s scented but it’s not overpowering. It really is a nifty take on the usual “tropical fruits” fragrance.

Yum.

Mermaid’s Kiss Sparkling Body Scrub

As you can see, this scrub looks dry. It’s salt and sugar with a little bit of natural oils. Once it gets on wet skin, the magic happens. It exfoliates and rinses off easily. If you want a wetter scrub, just mix a little bit of water with it. So much magic will happen. And not the sort of magic by evil sea witches, like good magic.

The fragrance of this one is stronger than that of the cream. But, it’s awesome. It’s like a juicy, realistic pineapple with a cypress mojito. Even David talks about how awesome this fragrance is. It’s unisex. And I’m telling you EVERYONE wants to be a mermaid. Even husbands.

Both retail for $24 each at A Beautiful Life. A perfume is also available.

  1. I’m very interested in these products. I do want to be an over 45 mermaid with some light strobing. Plus the price is practically free compared to some other products (Fresh) that I’ve used and there was no shimmer. Enjoy the beach!

    1. I think I might be hooked on body strobing now, lol. A very fine shimmer makes my skin look younger. Who knew?

I like Fresh products but their body stuff is $$$. I used to use their Sake bath but then read that geishas used regular ole sake. So I started doing that and using up old perfume samples…and that’s cheaper than that bath oil. (Still like theirs though but not a frequent indulgence).

    1. I still haven’t found the “perfect” one but there have been plenty that I’ve bought and use. So far, I like:
Sunday Riley Cashmere (good but pricey)
La Roche Posay Anthelios (comes with a tinted one too, has alcohol so not for dry skin)
Coola Matte Tint (great for daily use, becoming one of my favorites)
      Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector
Neutrogena Pure & Free Liquid (my favorite for daily summer use because cheap and lightweight)
Clinique City Block (another old favorite, doesn’t leave a white-hue either)
Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery SPF 30 and Resist SuperLight (like this one my skin is dry)

Mineral ones are great but sooo many leave a white residue. I’m pale so I can work with this. I also hear that ColorFX has these foundation pigment drops which will blend in with these mineral sunscreens. I’ve learned that it’s so much trial and error in finding a good daily SPF. Hope this helps!

      1. Thanks! I’ll have to look into these! I have been trying to stick with the ones with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide because I was told that they were more effective for preventing photoaging. I’m really fair, too, so a little white residue isn’t a big deal, but some of them are like trying to blend caulk into my skin.

        1. I hear you on the caulk thing! I had one for the body, a natural line and its name has slipped me now. It was EXACTLY like trying to rub caulk into my skin. I have to say that one ended up in the trash. It was actually painful to apply.

For the body I rather like the Yes to Cucumbers one.
