1970’s Fashion – Get the Makeup Look of Martine Beswick

Martine Beswick

Hammer film actress and Bond girl. Two things that I’ve always wanted on my resume but it’s never happening.  – Here’s what I did to get a 1970’s Martine Beswick inspired look:

FACE: Nothing about my face is like Martine’s so I must contour. I applied Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation in Beige Claire and blended with a sponge. Under the eyes, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. With the brush included I set the foundation with Lancôme Color Ideal Pressed Powder in Medium 10. Using a medium brown contour powder and white powder highlighter, I attempt to shape my face without looking like a drag queen. First I use the contour powder in the hollows of the cheeks. I follow around the hair line. I applied the highlighting powder down the nose and chin. On the apples of the cheeks brushing upward, I applied NARS Blush in Orgasm, a peachy pink with shimmer.

EYES: I filled in brows with Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre Brow Pencil in Natural Blonde. I then brushed brows upward with a spoolie. Martine’s brows are messy on purpose in this pic. On the lids, I applied NYX Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone (not shown). For the eye shadow, I’m using Physicians Formula Matte Eyshadow Quad in Canyon Classics. I applied the light beige from lash line to brows. I had to create a lid with the darkest taupe shade. And I blended and blended. I lined the bottom lash line with this shade. I curled lashes and applied Maybelline Full n Soft Mascara to top and bottom lashes.

LIPS: Directly from the tube, I applied Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Silver City Pink, a pale peachy pink shimmer. Over that I applied MAC Lipglass in Florabundance, a pale peach. I then blotted.

For a fragrance, I wanted something soft and peachy. I went for Burberry Weekend for Her.

Overall, this felt like a fail look for me. The camera didn’t capture the peachiness of the lips. Oh, well. I still like the look even though I look nothing like Martine. Oh, and this has been the first time I’ve center parted my hair in years. My hair was mad at me.

What are your weekend plans? I am so behind this week from entertaining out of town family. This has really thrown me off and this weekend I’ll attempt to catch up. Tomorrow I’m going to be at the closing night of Metropolitan Fashion Week in Seattle. I get to wear evening wear. I’m busting out the vintage late 1970’s Halston. Have a great weekend!
