1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Nadja Tiller

1950's makeup look of Nadja Tiller

When I think classic 1950’s, I think of a look like Nadja’s. Simple eye makeup, red lips and flawless skin. It works for everyone. Here’s what I did to get German actress, Nadja Tiller’s inspired makeup look:

FACE: It’s all about a flawless complexion. And most of us don’t have that, so we must fake it. Under the eyes with my fingers, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. With a sponge, I applied Paula’s Choice All Bases Covered Foundation in Nude and blended. With a powder brush, I applied Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Transparent. I really would have been happier with more rouge in this look, but it’s subtle. With a fan brush, I applied a light dusting of e.l.f. Studio Blush in Pink Passion, a matte bright pink, high on the cheeks.

EYES: I filled in my brows with Lancôme Le Crayon Poudrein Natural Blonde. Over the lid I applied e.l.f. Eyelid Primer in Nude. For the eyes, I’m using Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quad in Mocha Motion. I took the lightest slightly pearly nude shade and applied from lash line to crease. I took the bottom shade, a matte medium taupe, and I blended this in the crease for depth. I closely lined the top lash line, starting in the middle of the eye and not the inner corner, with Dior Waterproof Eyeliner in Trinidad Black. I curled lashes and applied a few coats of Mally Volumizing Mascara to top lashes. I then applied a half set of Ardell Lashes.

LIPS: To keep lipstick in place, I lined my lips with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Tiramisu, a light warm mauve brown. I applied With a lip brush by e.l.f. I applied Besame Classic Color Lipstick in Red Hot Red, a warmer 50’s Marilyn Monroe type red.

What fragrance goes with a look like this? Something with rose? I’m actually thinking of DSH Perfumes American Beauty, a rose with resins and patchouli.

What are your weekend plans? Any Labor Day plans? My husband is out of town visiting his family in Ohio. This makes my weekend/week incredibly boring. But, I do get to wear the fragrances that he hates like Guerlain Mitsouko and Dior Poison. I also get to eat the foods that he hates like pickled beets and other pickled items. The rest of my weekend is keeping up with work and deadlines. <sigh>

  1. Wow! That is a beautiful look on you. I must look for that lipstick, but I don’t think it will have the same impact on me.

    1. Thank you!

Lancome is my favorite brow pencil. It isn’t too powdery, not waxy at all and easy to blend. I’ve been using Natural Blonde since I was 16. I’ve went through so many of these.
