1950’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh

I think this is a very pretty vintage look. It’s all about the glossy lips (that aren’t red!). This look will look great on most complexions. Here’s what I did to achieve a similar 1950’s pre-Pyscho inspired Janet Leigh look:

FACE: I applied Lancôme Absolue Cream Foundation in Ecru 10 with my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush. Under the eyes with my fingers, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. With the puff provided, I applied Lancôme Color Ideal Pressed Powder in Medium 20. With a blush brush, I applied Lancôme Blush Subtil in Cafe Au Lait, a light warm matte tan shade.

EYES: Janet’s brows are filled in. I filled in with e.l.f. Eyebrow Lifter & Filler in Ash. I then took a brow brush and brushed brows in place. This pencil is slightly waxy so it holds brows too. Eye makeup is very natural. With a large, fluffy shadow brush, I applied Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Positive, a matte and natural cream shade. I blended Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Mochaccino, a matte medium taupe-ish brown, with a medium sized shadow brush in the crease. I lined the bottom lash line with the Lifter end of the e.l.f. brow pencil. This is a light pink highlighter. I lined top lash line closely with Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Mahogany, a deep brown. I curled lashes and applied 2 coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara in Black. I then applied Ardell Duralashes Accents to the outer corner of eyes.

LIPS: I lined my lip line with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Coffee Bean, a reddish brown. Dirrectly from the tube I applied Clinique Different Lipstick in Surprise, a shimmery warm bronze that looks plum-ish with gold shimmers. With a lip brush, I applied Lancôme Juicy Tubes Lip Gloss in Sun Bronze, a plummy bronze shimmer, to the bottom lip. I then “smacked” lips together to blend the colors. The gloss really shows up more in “real life”. The camera couldn’t capture it.

For a fragrance, I’m thinking INeKe Evening Edged in Gold, a shimmery “gold” floral amber with hints of plum and leather.

I wanted to do an Elizabeth Taylor inspired look this week but I have had no time and my allergies are flaring up. I had to go through my “archive” and I had this look from when my hair was longer. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
