Here’s a 1951 Motion Picture magazine cover of actress Jane Powell. It’s a classic early 1950’s look featuring bold lips and minimal eye makeup. Here’s what I did to get a similar Jane Powell look:
FACE: I applied Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation in Beige Clair with a foundation brush. Using a concealer brush, I applied e.l.f. All Over Cover Stick in Apricot Beige under my eyes and over dark spots. With my fancy shmancy Caron Powder Puff, I applied Caron La Poudre in Translucide. On the apples of my cheeks, I applied Everyday Minerals Matte Blush in Nick Nack, a matte peachy pink.
EYES: I brushed brows into place with the spoolie and filled in brows with Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre Brow Pencil in Natural Blonde. I applied NYX Eye Shadow Base in Skin Tone (not shown) to the lids. With a large shadow brush, I applied Lancôme Color Design Eyeshadow in Latte, a matte beige, from lash line to brows. I curled lashes and applied a few coats of Estee Lauder Sumptuous Mascara to top lashes only.
LIPS: This look is all about the lips. I lined my lips with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Red Dynamite, a red. Directly from the tube, I applied Milani Color Perfect Lipstick in Red Delicious, a bright red with faint shimmer.
The best thing about this look is that it takes like 5 minutes to apply. And I believe that red lipstick works for everyone.
For a fragrance, I went with something with roses – Sonoma Scent Studio Velvet Rose.
If you celebrate Easter, I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you!
I look into wigs because hey, why not? They are so expensive, even “cheap” ones aren’t cheap. I need a wig sponsorship, lol.
I think you did a great job recreating that look (but your skin tone is better! 😉 )

Thank you. That magazine cover was not kind to her IMO.
