I love Maria Montez! Especially Maria Montez with the blunt bangs, but hey, can’t find a color pic of that. Anyways…I love this adventure film (read that as camp) actress. Here’s what I did to get this 1940’s inspired makeup look of actress Maria Montez:
FACE: Under the eyes with a concealer brush, I applied MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC30 and blended. I applied Lancôme Teint Idole Foundation in Buff 3 and blended with a Beautyblender. With a powder brush, I applied Lancôme Color Ideal Pressed Powder in Medium 10. With a blush brush, I applied Benefit Dandelion to the cheeks, a sheer pink.
EYES: I can’t stand Maria’s eyebrows in this picture. It really is an awful shape, but anyways. I filled in my brows with Benefit Instant Brow Pencil in Medium. With a large shadow brush, I applied Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Positive, a matte buttermilk (not shown). In the crease, I applied Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Burnt Sand, an antique gold shimmer (not shown). I closely lined the top lash line and half of the bottom lash line with Dior Waterproof Eye Liner in Trinidad Black. I curled lashes and applied a few coats of Estee Lauder MagnaScopic Maximum Mascara. I then applied a strip of Ardell Lashes.
LIPS: This look is all about the lips. I lined lips in Dior Lip Liner Pencil in Red Holiday, a bright red. I exaggerated the lip line slightly for a 1940’s look. Directly from the tube, I applied Milani Color Perfect Lipstick in Scarlet, a warm red with fine, gold shimmer. With a lip brush, I applied L’Oreal Colour Riche LeGloss in Red Ravishing, a glossy red. I smacked my lips together and then blotted with a tissue.
Now for a fragrance…this wasn’t an easy choice for me. So, I went with what I want to wear! And that’s Chanel Coco EDT.
What are your weekend plans? It dropped down to fall here, no sunshine in days. I noticed that Lobster mushrooms are available at the grocery so we’ll probably go mushroom hunting. My husband also wants to go look for a new car for himself. He’s thinking about going with a Prius. Any Prius owners out there want to give some feedback? Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

That’s such a pretty shade of red lipstick!
Plans for the weekend are to enjoy what may be the last bit of summer for a while. Our weather will get nice again in mid-October, though. (Fingers crossed, it usually does.)

I do love this color.
I’m jealous…good weather in mid-October!
I really like those false eyelashes.
Weekend plans? The most exciting part – going to Booker T. concert. Other than that just regular weekend stuff.

They are a full set instead of a half set. I forgot that they actually look better.
Booker T. concert sounds fun! It’s typical PNW “vegetable crisper” here. Ugh. Let the frizz begin.
