Weekly World Fumes for October 4th, 11th, and 18th 2012

No video re-cap of Weekly World Fumes for these 3 weeks, see EauMG Etc. for more info.

Madonna Truth or Dare Naked

Celeb Gossip:

Christina Aguilera is launching a new perfume in November, Red Sin. Seems like one of those names that looks better in writing vs. said out loud…Notes listed include red apple, cinnamon, cyclamen, ginger, musk and sandalwood. This really sounds like something I’d dislike.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have launched their 2nd unisex perfume, Unbreakable Joy. That name is stupid because I’m envisioning Joy as a person. They launched it for Christmas and it contains notes of fresh spices, champagne, jasmine, chocolate truffle, vanilla, cedar wood and musk. I have low expectations for this but I admit that it sounds like it could be something that I would like.

Nicole Richie sniffs hunks on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I do this. This is how I test fragrances for review ;)

The ad for the new Rihanna Nude perfume has been revealed. I love that Rihanna misspelled “ad” in her big reveal tweet.

You know how Madonna is, she won’t let any of these young pop stars have a chance. She has announced she will be launching Truth or Dare Naked (hmmm…see entry above). It will contain notes of honeysuckle, peach blossom, neroli, vanilla orchid, cocoa flower, lily of the valley, cedar, benzoin, oud accord and sandawood. That’s right. Oud is mainstream!

And of course, everyone has something to say about Chanel No. 5’s new ad campaign featuring Brad Pitt.

Versace Eros

New Launches:

Versace will launch Eros in November, a fragrance for men. Notes listed include mint, lemon, green apple, tonka bean, ambroxan, and geranium. Why does that note list make me cringe?

Odin has launched 09 Posala. It’s inspired by the South and contains notes of  pear flower, peach, orange flower, bourbon, star jasmine, Perique tobacco, amber and purple iris. I sniffed this at Barneys. I remember it being sweeter than I imagined it being. It’s a sweet tobacco fragrance. And it seemed more feminine than any of their other offerings.

Gucci has launched Gucci Museo Forever Now by niche perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi. It contains notes of bergamot, mandarin, black pepper, lavender, orange blossom, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, leather, nutmeg, amber, patchouli, vetiver, musk, patchouli and Tuscan iris. It will be available at Gucci boutiques in 2013.

Burberry logo

Perfume News:

Burberry is ditching Interparfums and bringing their perfumes in-house. I hope they hire an awesome perfumer.

A Japanese brand has launched an iPhone accessory that squirts out perfume. I don’t really get why I would need this. I can carry around decants.

Frink the Frug

"I hate my life" - Frink the Frug

EauMG Etc.:

It’s wild how much can happen in 3 weeks. I’m in the process of moving. We have found a really great place to live downtown. Living the downtown condo life means we have to downsize. I have spent the past 2 weeks getting rid of virtually everything I own. It’s not as bad as it sounds. I want to live this type of lifestyle. I want to be more mobile for my career. At this stage of my life, I crave convenience. I’m like a 1 minute walk to Gucci ;)

On top of worrying about the frug’s transition from house to downtown city life, they have both been sick. Frink was neutered last week which went very well. He does have an anal gland issue, but that is another story. While we were signing papers on the new place on Saturday, Moxi got into dried white rice by destroying one of those heat pads. Do you know what I’m talking about? You put them in a microwave and they are filled with grains. They both ate dried rice and this really messed them up. Moxi has something wrong with her eye  now and goes for surgery tomorrow. Dental surgery. Still no news on her eye. Ugh. It looks like the 2009 frug was a year of lemons. I hope they have improved on the iFrug5 ;)

Oh, and then there is the closing of the house. Huge headache. I’m so sick of paperwork.

I’ve done a lot of fun stuff during this time too. I would love to cover the Seattle Vintage Sniff and some other things but I’ve been really busy. Saying that, I need to take a break from EauMG next week so that I can move and officially settle into my new location. Honestly, at this stage, I’m overworked and overwhelmed. I will be back on the week of Halloween with “spooky” perfume reviews.

Have a great week!

  1. Oh the poor little frugs! I hope they are better soon. It’s amazing how they get into anything and everything. I have 3 dogs so I know what your going through.

    • They have been really good in the past, but these past 2 weeks they have been into so much! I had no idea that dried rice would mess up their bodies so much (they have been on a grain free diet for years). Oh, I also failed to mention they ate one of my slippers. They never chew on “people” stuff! I think they are upset by the chaos of moving and are acting out. And then they just happen to have other stuff on top of that (dental surgery, etc.)
Do yours work together? I wasn’t here during the rice bag massacre. But, I have a feeling they worked together. Moxi retrieved it from my bed, destroyed it and I bet Frink dragged it downstairs. There they decided to eat it. Or this is how I imagine it went down :) Frink isn’t brave enough to jump up on the bed. Or so it pretends while I’m around…

      • Mine totally plot things together. I have one that loves to eat Kleenex and then puke it up. He acts like he’s snuggling up to you and what he’s doing is trying to pick the tissue out of your pockets. Total brat. I have one who chewed through some plastic garden fence to get to the tomatoes and made herself very sick. I’m sure yours are stressed with the move. My whippet just had a few teeth removed about 2 months ago. And I bet that when you’re not looking Frink is on the bed. :)

        • See, these are the types of stories I need to hear right now :) I need to know that other pets are dysfunctional too.

Moxi is having some teeth removed. I hope it goes well. Her eye is what is freaking me out right now.
Oh, he probably is. I’ve had my suspicions but I’m in denial.

  2. Whoa. You certainly have been busy! I’m amazed that you were able to write the posts you did while all of this has been going on. Aside from the mischief and worries of your frugs (and the pain of actually doing the move itself), this is great news. Congratulations on landing your downtown condo! I hope this means your husband has a much shorter commute.

    • Hubs commute went from 2 hours 1 way on a good day to 20 minutes 1 way using mass transit :) We’re really happy. It takes some adjusting (going from about 3k square feet to about 900 square feet), going down to 1 car and just getting acclimated to “city life”.
So far, the dogs are doing very well. They have the build of apartment dogs…they hate to be outside or exercise, lol.

  3. Wow! I can’t believe you moved! I remember the craziness you had with that house and all the work you put into it. Must be a little bittersweet to leave.

    • I’m the creator and the destroyer ;) Strangely, I feel bad for not feeling bad for leaving/selling. It was my project. I learned from it. I made it beautiful. And then I got bored with it. It wasn’t fun anymore. It’s fun to do the complete opposite – live in something new and modern in a great location. If I want another fixer-upper, I know what to do :)
Also, hubs was commuting for over 4 hours a day. That took the “fun” out of the house too.

      • Makes sense. I’m sure the new owners would never know the state you found it in. 900 sq ft. though, I bet that’s a challenge. You’ll have to post pics of how you’re making it work. Maybe we’ll see you on apartment therapy at some point.

  4. I hope the downsizing haven’t effected your perfumes collection – or have it?

I wish everything gets back to normal fairly soon (first of all, the health of your dogs). How short is your husband’s commute now?

    • I haven’t gotten rid of any of my perfumes, lol! The new place has a nice built-in for them :)

The dogs are doing much better. They seem to be happy and healthy.
His commute is now 20 minutes one way. So he went to 4 hours a day to 40 minutes a day. He is very happy with that.
