Weekly World Fumes for October 4th, 11th, and 18th 2012
No video re-cap of Weekly World Fumes for these 3 weeks, see EauMG Etc. for more info.
Celeb Gossip:
Christina Aguilera is launching a new perfume in November, Red Sin. Seems like one of those names that looks better in writing vs. said out loud…Notes listed include red apple, cinnamon, cyclamen, ginger, musk and sandalwood. This really sounds like something I’d dislike.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have launched their 2nd unisex perfume, Unbreakable Joy. That name is stupid because I’m envisioning Joy as a person. They launched it for Christmas and it contains notes of fresh spices, champagne, jasmine, chocolate truffle, vanilla, cedar wood and musk. I have low expectations for this but I admit that it sounds like it could be something that I would like.
Nicole Richie sniffs hunks on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I do this. This is how I test fragrances for review
The ad for the new Rihanna Nude perfume has been revealed. I love that Rihanna misspelled “ad” in her big reveal tweet.
You know how Madonna is, she won’t let any of these young pop stars have a chance. She has announced she will be launching Truth or Dare Naked (hmmm…see entry above). It will contain notes of honeysuckle, peach blossom, neroli, vanilla orchid, cocoa flower, lily of the valley, cedar, benzoin, oud accord and sandawood. That’s right. Oud is mainstream!
And of course, everyone has something to say about Chanel No. 5′s new ad campaign featuring Brad Pitt.
New Launches:
Versace will launch Eros in November, a fragrance for men. Notes listed include mint, lemon, green apple, tonka bean, ambroxan, and geranium. Why does that note list make me cringe?
Odin has launched 09 Posala. It’s inspired by the South and contains notes of pear flower, peach, orange flower, bourbon, star jasmine, Perique tobacco, amber and purple iris. I sniffed this at Barneys. I remember it being sweeter than I imagined it being. It’s a sweet tobacco fragrance. And it seemed more feminine than any of their other offerings.
Gucci has launched Gucci Museo Forever Now by niche perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi. It contains notes of bergamot, mandarin, black pepper, lavender, orange blossom, rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, leather, nutmeg, amber, patchouli, vetiver, musk, patchouli and Tuscan iris. It will be available at Gucci boutiques in 2013.
Perfume News:
Burberry is ditching Interparfums and bringing their perfumes in-house. I hope they hire an awesome perfumer.
A Japanese brand has launched an iPhone accessory that squirts out perfume. I don’t really get why I would need this. I can carry around decants.
EauMG Etc.:
It’s wild how much can happen in 3 weeks. I’m in the process of moving. We have found a really great place to live downtown. Living the downtown condo life means we have to downsize. I have spent the past 2 weeks getting rid of virtually everything I own. It’s not as bad as it sounds. I want to live this type of lifestyle. I want to be more mobile for my career. At this stage of my life, I crave convenience. I’m like a 1 minute walk to Gucci
On top of worrying about the frug’s transition from house to downtown city life, they have both been sick. Frink was neutered last week which went very well. He does have an anal gland issue, but that is another story. While we were signing papers on the new place on Saturday, Moxi got into dried white rice by destroying one of those heat pads. Do you know what I’m talking about? You put them in a microwave and they are filled with grains. They both ate dried rice and this really messed them up. Moxi has something wrong with her eye now and goes for surgery tomorrow. Dental surgery. Still no news on her eye. Ugh. It looks like the 2009 frug was a year of lemons. I hope they have improved on the iFrug5
Oh, and then there is the closing of the house. Huge headache. I’m so sick of paperwork.
I’ve done a lot of fun stuff during this time too. I would love to cover the Seattle Vintage Sniff and some other things but I’ve been really busy. Saying that, I need to take a break from EauMG next week so that I can move and officially settle into my new location. Honestly, at this stage, I’m overworked and overwhelmed. I will be back on the week of Halloween with “spooky” perfume reviews.
Have a great week!
