Do you hate patchouli? Then why are you reading this review? Von Eusersdorff New York Classic Patchouli perfume is exactly what the names states – a classic patchouli.
Classic Patchouli opens with an earthy, dark patchouli. If you were to blind sniff this, you’d immediately say “patchouli”. It’s full-bodied and unapologetic. It’s everything I love about patchouli. With time Classic Patchouli gets sweeter with a balsamic, boozy vanilla bean pod and rich tonka. Awe, breathe it in and imagine you are sniffing Gardner McKay’s chest hair…
This is a patchouli fragrance. It’s simple but it’s a “classic patchouli”. I’m a patch-head. This is a comfort scent for me, something I could always be in the mood for.
In my review of Classic Myrrh, I shared with you that my husband stole my sample. Well, Classic Patchouli followed the fate of Classic Myrrh…he describes Classic Patchouli as such – “This is what happens when you take patchouli and tell a real perfumer to make patchouli into a real perfume. Oh, it’s patchouli but so much more.”
Notes listed include bergamot, black patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean, and sandalwood.
Give Classic Patchouli a try if you like patchouli. Or if you like perfumes like Serge Lutens Borneo 1834, DSH Perfumes Ancient Air, L’Artisan Parfumeur Patchouli Patch, Histoires de Parfums 1969, and/or Nobile 1942 Patchouli Nobile. Classic Patchouli is unisex. Like I said, hubs and I both wear it. It’s a refined patchouli perfume. It’s more sophisticated than the aged patchouli oil that we both wore when ran away and got married as two young punks years ago.
I find that projection is average and longevity is above average
Von Eusersdorff isn’t sold in the U.S. yet. It’s currently at Jovoy Paris. More info on their site.
Victoria’s Final EauPINION – A classic patchouli. It’s a comfort scent for me. And if you love patch, you should try it too.
