  • Penhaligon’s Extract of Limes EDT Fragrance Review

    Date: 2011.07.12 | Category: fragrance | Response: 3

    Penhaligon's Extract of Lime review

Penhaligon’s Extract of Limes was first launched in 1963 when “real” men were meant to smell like limes. Seriously, all colognes of the 1960′s were lime based. Anyways, Extract of Limes was relaunched in 2009 in the Anthology Collection because I suppose, people wanted to smell like limes again. Even ladies.

Extract of Limes opens up with a BAM of lemon and lime. It’s effervescent tart citrus. When I smell it far away, it reminds me of lime Perrier, up close, I get… Continue reading | 3 Comments

  • Demeter Iris Fragrance Review

    Date: 2011.07.11 | Category: fragrance | Response: 6

Demeter Iris CologneIs Demeter Iris the best iris? No. But, it’s affordable and makes a nice room spray. Surround yourself with irises any time of the year.

Iris is synthetic and cool smelling. Almost like leathery, earthy root. Within a few more minutes I get something sweeter and more floral, reminding me of sugared violets, sweet and powdery but green. Hmm…a little Guerlain-ish. In about 10 more minutes, it goes back to being earthy, but a floral iris. And in 30 minutes, it’s completely and totally gone… Continue reading | 6 Comments

  • Annick Goutal Mandragore EDT Fragrance Review

    Date: 2011.07.07 | Category: fragrance | Response: 9

Mandragore (French for mandrake) is one of my favorite summer scents. This perfume is fresh, spicy, and woodsy. This scent is based on the mystical/mythical mandrake, a howling killer, some serious symbolism and folklore here. The “idea” alone of this fragrance could hook me, luckily the fragrance did too.

At first the fragrance is very citrusy thanks to a heavy hand of bergamot. Bergamot is a note used in most fragrances and is “generic” at times. It isn’t in this blend.  It’s zesty, bubbly, green, and fresh. In the beginning… Continue reading | 9 Comments

  • L’Artisan Parfumeur Piment Brulant EDT Perfume Review

    L'Artisan Piment Brulant perfume

Who eats peppers everyday? Me. Who goes through more bottles of hot sauce, dried peppers, and powdered peppers in a month than most people do in a year? Me. Who wants to smell like a fresh, red sweet pepper? Me. I’m a Southern gal and I love my peppers. I swear, I skipped Gerber rice cereal and was given pureed jalapeños instead. I’m a pepper thrill seeker. And since I’ve been hooked on hot since childhood, nothing ever seems hot enough anymore…except for L’Artisan’s… Continue reading | 9 Comments

A Midsummer’s Night Dream Perfume Event – Fare Thee Well, Nymph by Blossoming Tree

Fare Thee Well, Nymph, let’s call it Fare Thee for short,  is inspired by the character Helena, an insecure young lady that becomes a confident woman because in the end she gets what she wants. It’s a man, but we don’t have to go there. I’m here to discuss perfume.

Edward John Poynter Helena & Hermia

Fare Thee opens… Continue reading | 5 Comments
