Not Soap Radio Walking the Red Carpet

Not Soap Radio has a cute collection of 9 solid “trans-portable” perfumes called “I’m not here, I’m really…” somewhere awesome. The line is affordable and is FAA approved travel-sized. I’m not here, I’m really Walking the Red Carpet is the glamour girl in the collection.

Walking the Red Carpet opens as a lemony rose with tart, fruity currant sharpness. This gives the illusion of a living rose. There’s a bit of green dewiness with that distinct sour currant. The fragrance… Continue reading | 6 Comments

    Patch NYC Pipe Solid Perfume

As a non-smoker, I find it odd that I define tobacco scents as my “comfort” scents. I never grow tired of the following combo in perfume: booze, dry tobacco, and sweetness. I like complicated versions of this. And I even like simple, “slow-food” versions of this combo.

Patch NYC Pipe opens as a boozy cognac and unsmoked cigar. The tobacco is dry, crisp. And then it dries to a softer vanilla flavored tobacco. The base is soft, creamy vanilla woods. Simple and good… Continue reading | 7 Comments

  • Providence Perfume Co. Jazmina Solid Perfume Review

Jazmina opens is a spicy nutmeg floral. Jasmine is the star here. I’m actually surprised how much the nutmeg stands out. It’s dry and peppery. It… Continue reading | 3 Comments

Date: 2011.10.15 | Category: fragrance, video reviews | Response: 6

Today I’m talking about Pacifica perfumes. This line is located here in the Pacific Northwest and was founded by Brooke Harvey Taylor and her husband, Bill. The company website says that the line contains skin-safe ingredients and that the line is cruelty-free. There’s a huge focus on sustainability and “botanicals”. I think the line is over 15 years old, but I’m not certain. I emailed their PR years ago and never received any information. You can read the “Our Brand” on their website and get more info. And really, that’s enough info for me. It answers most of my questions.

    I… Continue reading | 6 Comments

Today, I am talking fragrance solvents, mediums, bases, types, carries, whatever you want to call it! Organizing my perfume collection, not an easy task, I realized that other than perfume “families” that my preferences for perfume goes through many sudden and drastic spurts in the area of “medium”. I have perfume oils, EDTs and EDPs and way too many solid perfumes. And here I go…analyzing three popular perfume mediums.

    Betty Blythe with crystal ball

Alcohol based perfumes- I’d say these are the most popular perfumes even though I… Continue reading | 10 Comments
