House of Matriarch Albatross EDP Perfume Review

House of Matriarch Albatross

If you haven’t already noticed, Pacific Northwest based perfume line, House of Matriarch, has rebranded their line and extended their distribution to the Seattle-based department store, Nordstrom. This is huge! More and more retailers understand that many of us want more interesting options! At first,  I was a little skeptical because I thought that the formulas would have been compromised. But, they haven’t. I’ve sampled them all and the brand is better now than ever.

Albatross is one of the new perfumes in the… Continue reading | 17 Comments

Phoenicia Far NWest EDP Perfume Review

Phoenicia Far NWest

From the brand that brought you my favorite perfume of 2013, we now have a perfume with skunk essence. Seriously. Phoenicia Far NWest is a perfume inspired by the perfumer’s olfactory memories of driving through the Olympic Rainforest in an old Rambler. And yes, it has skunk essence but before you jump to any hasty judgements, continue reading my review.

Hermes Santal Massoia EDP Perfume Review

Hermes Santal Massoia

Hermes Santal Massoïa reminds me of an impressionistic painting of fog. It’s a soft, misty suede woods. A must try fragrance for anyone interested in perfume or for anyone curious about Jean-Claude Ellena’s signature style.

Santal Massoïa is a suede wood that opens with a bitter fig and rubbery aloe vera. It’s misty and muted, reminds me of a “greige” shade. Up close I get a black licorice and creamy woods and this is what Santal Massoïa dries down to – bitter woods.

Downtown Seattle

June 1st Pike Place – Happy to be back to the place that I now call home. Sunshine and salad niçoise. Brine and seafood. Lillet Blanc. I’ve got a good life.

June 2ndPioneer Square – I don’t know if it is the same for all cities, but one can’t walk a few blocks in most of Seattle without witnessing very open and nonchalant drug deals. Frink wants to know what the men are holding, pulling him away, we notice a strange smell of burning… Continue reading | 15 Comments

EauMG’s Smell Diary – May 2013

May 1stDowntown – No injuries from anarchists but I did stay mostly indoors. The Seattle P.D. said they broke up an altercation between clowns and superheros. They weren’t joshing. Windows open, the smell of fresh air and the hum of hovering helicopters.

May March

May 2ndDowntown – Crazy notion to try on jeans even though I know jeans are not my friend. After reasoning with myself that Cruella de Vil wouldn’t wear jeans so why should I, I leave the stuffy, uncomfortably warm… Continue reading | 7 Comments
