  • Amouage Lyric Man EDP Perfume Review

    Date: 2011.07.26 | Category: fragrance | Response: 12

Amouage Lyric for Men is a masculine tropical scent. It reminds me of 1930′s-1940′s Cuba. I haven’t been to 1930′s Cuba (obviously) but this fragrance reminds me of the travel pictures from that time and place. Lyric Man is a spicy, tropical rose. It would go well with cigars.

Lyric Man opens with bergamot, lime, lime blossom, orange blossom, and a gingery floral. It reminds me of old school tropical men’s colognes but thicker and with more body. The top to Lyric for Men is on the balcony wearing a… Continue reading | 12 Comments

  • NEST Orange Blossom Candle Review

    Date: 2011.07.21 | Category: home scents | Response: 6

Nest Orange Blossom CandleComplaining about the weather in the Seattle area doesn’t help anything and I know that. You’ve heard me before and I’m going to say it again, I’m sick of it. This has been such a cool, foggy, and gloomy summer. Most of the U.S. is experiencing an inhumane heatwave, I don’t want this (and I really feel for you guys), but I do want some sunshine. NEST candles give me some sunshine. Yeah, it doesn’t give me my daily recommendation of Vitamin D, but it does provide… Continue reading | 6 Comments

  • C.O. Bigelow Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Splash

    Date: 2011.06.11 | Category: fragrance | Response: 7

C.O. Bigelow Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Spray Review

In preperation for summer, I purchased C.O. Bigelow Lemon & Orange Blossom Body Splash on a whim. It was cheap, marked down, and I couldn’t resist. Sniffing it in the bottle, I thought it smelled good. Neroli isn’t an easy ingredient to mess up, right?

Here’s the deal. C.O. Bigelow didn’t mess up neroli. They didn’t mess up Lemon & Orange Blossom. It smells good. It’s a refreshing melody of tart citrus and citrus blossoms. I really do like it… Continue reading | 7 Comments

  • Emilio Pucci Vivara EDP Perfume Review

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing A Popular Perfume

I’ve never sniffed the original mid-60′s Pucci Vivara fragrance, I’m sure it was beautiful and I won’t/can’t compare the old and the new. Emilio Pucci has openly admitted and embraced the fact that they reformulated Vivara. Vivara does smell very “modern” and “abstract” to me. Pucci Vivara is a fresh floral fragrance in a beautiful bottle.

The “ugly duckling” galbanum has had a makeover. I’ve never sniffed galbanum so mainstreamed and femininized in my life. This… Continue reading | 4 Comments

  • Vero Profumo Rubj EDP Perfume Review

    Date: 2011.03.24 | Category: fragrance | Response: 6

Vero Profumo Rubj (say “ruby”) EDP is a night-blooming tuberose, tropical fruity floral. It’s hot and humid with juicy, equator loving fruits. I’m not a dancer and I’m not even interested in going out dancing for fear of hurting myself physically and/or embarrassing myself beyond repair. But, I love the idea of getting dressed up to go dancing, red dress and matching lipstick, seductive opera gloves, and cha-cha heels. Rubj EDP is like my “salsa dancing” fantasy scent in luxury perfume form. It’s hot, humid, and the fruits… Continue reading | 6 Comments
