Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon EDP Perfume Review

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon

Mainstream Monday: Sniffing a Popular Perfume

When the fashion label Elizabeth & James launched Nirvana Bourbon and Nirvana Rose, I knew that Nirvana Bourbon would be a hit for them. Vanilla fragrances are popular because their smooth, sweetness seems to appeal to everyone¹. After trying Nirvana Bourbon, I was impressed. It’s a dry, boozy vanilla that differs from the usual sweet/candied designer/mainstream vanillas. I did state that I prefer Nirvana Rose (after all, I’m a rose lover) but this doesn’t mean… Continue reading | 12 Comments

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb EDT Fragrance Review

Viktor Rolf Spicebomb

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

Today I’m going to review a fragrance who’s packaging has probably put more people in detention than anything else: Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb. Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume (ROSE WEEK 2017 EDITION)

It’s Rose Week on EauMG! This is the annual celebration of rose-centric perfumes! This week I’m reviewing 6 fragrances that display a different aspect of rose perfumes.

I’m kicking off the week with a designer rose perfume. I’m not a perfume snob and most of the perfumes in my rotation are boring, mainstream designer perfumes. This doesn’t mean that I’m free of designer perfume complaints. One of my issues is that it… Continue reading | 20 Comments

Narciso Rodriguez NARCISO EDP Perfume Review

Narciso Rodriguez perfume

Mainstream Monday – Sniffing a Popular Perfume

In the world of perfumery, the word “synthetic” may have negative connotations since marketing has clouded quality with words like “natural” to justify high prices for products. “Synthetic” is often used to describe “cheap” headache inducing perfumes in a world where if you utter the word “chemical” you’ll incite hysteria. However, synthetic shouldn’t always be viewed with an unfavorable mindset. Synthetics in perfumery can create an abstract beauty that makes realism appear pedestrian.

The appeal of Narciso Rodriguez perfumes is… Continue reading | 10 Comments
