April Aromatics Liquid Dreams is when spring meets summer. There’s delicate yellow spring florals mixing with refreshing citrus and sharp linden blossoms.

Liquid Dreams opens with a big blast of natural lemon. And then it reminds me of that “refreshing” spa water; an infusion of water with lemon, lime and cucumber slices. It’s refreshing and effervescent. The linden peeks through. It’s tart and more green when smelled from a distance. Up close, it’s more floral reminding me of linden mixing with pollen-y daffodils – a spring meadow. And that is what Liquid Dreams dries to – a spring meadow with green grass and sunny florals.

If you’re familiar with the line, Liquid Dreams is like Unter de Linden but more citrusy and with more “eau de cologne” elements.

Notes listed include Sicilian lemon, linden, narcissus, and osmanthus. Launch date 2012. PERFUMER – Tanja Boching

Give Liquid Dreams a try if you like refreshing citrus scents. Or if you like perfumes like April Aromatics Unter de Linden, Tauer Zeta, Annick Goutal Eau de Ciel, Parfums DelRae Debut and/or Maison Francis Kurkdjian Aqua Universalis. I consider Liquid Dreams as unisex. I think it’s a good choice for discrete day fragrance or something to wear in summer/warm climates.

Like all of the other April Aromatics perfumes that I’ve tried, Liquid Dreams has above average projection and longevity for an all-natural perfume.

The 1 oz bottle of Liquid Dreams retails for €169 at April Aromatics.

Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Linden “eau de cologne” – A refreshing citrus floral. It’s a good one to wear for “day” or in the summer. It’s difficult for me to “invest” in something at this price point that reads so “warm weather” to me when I live in a climate that is mild.

I’ve been told that it is “wedding season”. I don’t know what that means exactly. I assume that more people get married in the summer or at least this is what press releases want me to believe. I’ve been asked about “wedding perfumes” many times. The obvious ones include romantic florals or white florals because brides are supposed to smell frou-frou and girly, blah, blah, blah. My floral “bride” perfume recommendation is Tauer Zeta. It’s floral and pretty but not completely predictable. I like that it is laid-back and elegant. It’s perfect for outdoor weddings.

Zeta opens as a doughy orange blossom with a citrus floral softness. Most citrus wear very sharp and angular on me. The citrus in Zeta wear soft and cottony. Under the citrus, there is something so soft like orris incense. The florals are honeyed, this is a linden blossom fragrance. The linden blossom is realistic but not literal. The base is soft and beautiful with a buttermilk sandalwood richness. The base does have that incense too it that you either love or hate in Tauer perfumes.

The overall feel for me is that this is a hazy summer afternoon. And it smells expensive and luxurious. It does smell of high quality.

Notes listed include lemon, bergamot, sweet orange, ylang ylang, orange blossom, neroli, linden blossom, rose, orris, sandalwood and vanilla PERFUMER – Andy Tauer

Give Zeta a try if you like citrus florals. Or if you like perfumes like L’Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse Aux Papillons Extreme, Parfums DelRae Debut, Tableau de Parfums Miriam, and/or Estee Lauder Pure White Linen Light Breeze. I perceive Zeta as a feminine fragrance.

I find that projection and longevity are above average. This is a perfume that I enjoy in the summer but need in the winter. It is a very optimistic fragrance in cooler weather.

The 1.7 oz bottle of Zeta retails for about $133 at Tauer Parfumes.

Victoria’s Final EauPINION – Linden “Taueraide” – A very beautiful citrus floral with an incense base, a beautiful wedding perfume. And it’s one that makes me happy.

Week of June 26th-July 3rd

Happy 4th of July!

This week I’ve learned that citrus isn’t so bad in perfume, especially if it is grounded by moss. I also learned that Monsieur Balmain is awesome. This week I have been all about smoky fragrances, the BBC Perfume documentary, Art Deco, pine needles, and volumizing mascara.

I hope everyone in the U.S. is enjoying their 3 day weekend. I say wear an American perfume to celebrate!

Here’s what has been happening in the world wide web of fragrance:

Jane at Daly Beauty talks about her favorite “green” perfumes. And yes, you need them all. They’re classics.

Carrie at Eyeliner On a Cat reviews one decadent, natural perfume from Aftelier, Cacao, and it sounds good.

Olfactoria reviews Anya’s Garden Amberess and there is a give-away! Get over there before the 5th!

Marla at Perfume-Smellin’ Things talks about “slow noses“. I know you have a favorite. Share them with her!

It’s EstéeFest over at Redolent of Spices and Parfümerien. Check out JoanElaine’s Youth Dew Facts and Olenska “does the Dew”. Oh, I think we all have or had Youth Dew issues…

Scent of the Day reviews one of the best budget fragrances ever. Can we talk MAC into bringing it back? I hope so.

Gaia at The Non-Blonde reviews one of my favorite eau de colognes from Guerlain, but it has a name that I hate to say!

Undina at Undina’s Looking Glass tries out a few linden perfumes. Do you have a favorite with this note?

And EauMG’s things to talk about list:

Tomorrow 4711 will launch a new fragrance. And it will be 4/7/2011 in Euro-date…

I heard that Odori and Bois 1920 will be no more. Is this just a rumor? I don’t know. With those price points, I’m not surprised.

BBC aired their 1st episode of their Perfume Documentary. I suggest that you watch it if you can. I can’t wait for the next episode.

Basenotes announced that Thierry Mugler will be launching “foody” versions of some of their already foody perfumes. Hmm…

Linden/linden flower is such a pretty, bubbly, and flirty scent. It is one of my favorites for spring and summer and lately I haven’t been able to get enough of it. It’s a slightly honey-ish floral in a honeysuckle way and tart like a lime blossom. It brings back sweet memories of linden tea and linden honey in early summer. If you are a fan of citrus blossom fragrance then I think you’ll love linden like I do. I love this scent but it can be difficult to “find”, so that’s why I’ve put this “collage” together. I want to help myself and others find a place to start when finding that perfect linden based fragrance.

Budget Linden: I have raved about it before for its true linden-ness, Le Provence Santé Tilleul/Linden. It retails for $27 for a big, simple looking bottle. This is an EDT so lasting power isn’t so great but it smells amazing. This is the “truest” linden fragrance that I have found, it is a single note. Tokyomilk Pafum has a gorgeous floral linden with delicate touches of rose and wisteria, Waltz (I have raved about this one also). This scream femininity and retails for $28 for 1 ounce. It comes in a really cute bottle. A nice white floral linden blend is Voluspa Floraison Linden Blond Tabac, it’s a heady blend of tuberose and linden. It’s ultra femme and flirty. The 1 ounce cute travel spray goes for $18. Demeter has a Linden that goes for $20 for 1 ounce. It smells lovely but the lasting power isn’t hot. I hate to include a limited edition fragrance, but MAC has a nice one for $25, Naked Honey, it is a bit like sweet linden honey. I recommend trying it while you can.

More Expensive: A complicated but beautiful linden that contains notes of lily of the valley, ylang-ylang, and vetiver, Pafrums DelRae Début EDP, $135 for 1.7 ounces. A fruity, “young” feeling linden is Trance Essence Whyte Rabbit which retails for $90 for the largest bottle, a roll-on oil is also available and is cheaper. I love the playful, bubbly floral of L’Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse Aux Papillons EDT. It is a fun floral with linden, citrus blossoms, and jasmine. It’s so beautiful and I find myself using it frequently. This retails for $95. I like the “moodiness” of Annick Goutal Eau de Ciel. It’s a wet and rainy blend of linden, violet, and iris. It goes for $115. This fragrance contains linden but is heavy on lots of other stuff like aquatic and wood notes, Estee Lauder Pure Linen Light Breeze. It manages to be playful and fresh with linden blossom. The largest bottle goes for $72.

This is my “beginners” list, if you have any others to share, please do. I am always on the “smell-out” for linden based fragrances. They just make me happy.

What a surprise! ( I can’t wait to get this 1st house stuff settled so I can go back to purchasing my special little items). Tokyomilk Parfums now have 6 ounce travel candles in 18 wonderful fragrances. Each come in a cute tin with adorable packaging/graphics. I love travel candles because they have a lid and this makes me think that it is “trapping” the fragrance in when not in use. They are all in Tokyomilk perfume fragrances and I have been very pleased with the EDPs for their artistic blends. Since these are home fragrances I am sure I’ll be craving different scents than I would wear on my body. I am intrigued by them all but these are the top five that I am most interested for my home:

Ex Libris (vision chart image): Sound familiar? It should I wrote a raving fragrance review about this fragrance spray. It is a blend of fig and cardamom and I wouldn’t mind my body or my home smelling like this wonderful fragrance. I could seriously surround myself with the scent of fig.

Dead Sexy (poisonous skull image): This is an awesome fragrance for home or body as well and is perfect for chillier months because of its warm aroma. It is a rich vanilla and woods fragrance. And it is sexy as the name implies. (fragrance review coming soon)

Lapsung Su Chong (pagoda image): This is a great blend of moss, rose, and woods. It creates a wonderful atmosphere. But, I am a fan of a woodsy, mossy blend.

Honey And The Moon (insect collector bee image): This is a scent that I like for the skin but I would rarely wear it because I don’t “wear” honey scents very well, bummer. However, I admire them. I would love for my atmosphere to smell of sweet honey, sugared violets and sandalwood. This is a sweet scent but in a honey sweet way.

Waltz (society ladies and gents waltzing image, Belle Epoque? can’t tell): I love this as an EDP (review here). I believe everybody should have a super feminine fragrant candle in their collection for those bubble bath kind of days. This is a lovely blend of linden blossoms, rose, and wisteria. It’s so femme and springy.

Like I said, I am interested in all of the candles but I have to limit myself, you know? Too many candles and I’ve turned my home into a Prince video. Each retail for $12 and are available on beautyhabit.com and *b-glowing.com. I hope in the future we will see gift sets by this brand pairing their fragrance, soap, and travel candles. That would be really special. I also want to add that the my image above is not so great due to my poor editing skills. They are all the same size in real life. I just wanted to display some of the cutest images.

Provence Sante’s Tilleul or linden blossom EDT is a simple, sweet, and fresh linden spray. It is a light and refreshing fragrance that is perfect for warmer weather. It is 8-15% fragrance oil. I would say that it lasts for about 2-3 hours on the skin during warmer weather.
It is a simple fragrance and super concentrated linden flower. Linden is a slightly citrusy and sweet floral fragrance. It smells like a mix of lime and honeysuckle. It is one of those nice summery florals. It isn’t too heavy or overwhelming, like a gardenia based fragrance can be in the summer. This is the kind of “citrus” I can wear. It isn’t Pledge-ish but more floral.
The bottle is super plain and simple like the single note fragrance. It retails for about $30 for 3.5 ounces. I have had mine for about a month and have went through so much of it. I think I have like a half a bottle left. I keep reapplying because I love the fragrance so much. I personally wish they would offer an EDP. I like to be fragrant all day long. And I live in a cooler climate. I can imagine that this will be one of my favorites in the summer. If you like linden or honeysuckle based scents, Tokyomilk Waltz or Poe’s Tobacco, or even mimosa based scents then you’ll probably like this one. It can be purchased at beautyhabit.com.

TokyoMilk Waltz Parfum is a clean and fresh floral that is perfect for spring. At first spritz it is both energetic and sweet. It smells slightly like raw honey, but not in a sickly sweet or sticky way. It really balances the green and floral notes. It smells of linden. Linden is a lovely note. It is slightly citrus, lime-like and floral. It is so artful in this composition because it blends so nicely with the “honeyed rose” note that is vaguely honeysuckle-ish. I have a family of beekeepers and linden honey is often priced for its sweet floral citrus taste. It is practically ambrosia in my mind. Also, I am a tea addict and I love linden tea (made from the tree’s flowers) especially mixed with linden honey and a dash of orange blossom water. I fall hard for this fragrance from first spritz. Fragrance is about memories and this scent takes me to a place that is partly my memories and partly fantasy. The fragrance is a monofloral linden limey citrus in a bouquet of roses. Which from the smell, makes me want my ambrosia quality linden honey and linden tea mixed with a bit of rose water. The rose is light and not “old-fashioned”. In fact, it does remind me more of delicate rose water than of 50′s rose perfume or tuberose blends. By the time you’ve been able to appreciate the linden and rose mix, you are taken over by the invasive wisteria blossom. I love wisteria, don’t get me wrong. It is such a wonderful floral fragrance. It is a bit of a “green” floral and reminds me of watery fruit, like grape or kiwi. My grandfather had these planted around an open patio and it was used (trained) as shade. The smell was wonderful in a gentle summer breeze. He had a few different types of wisteria, some used for bonsai and the others as free growing trees. This wisteria reminds me of the tall Chinese wisteria. I don’t know what was really used in this mix but this is what it reminds me of. It feels like the wisteria “vines” in this fragrance will take you over. I love that. The fragrance is faintly citrus from the linden, sweet from the honey, floral from the rose, fresh from the wisteria. It claims to have white musk. The white musk doesn’t take over and really keeps the rest of the scents grounded. It is a beautiful composition, just like a Waltz. Tokyo Milk got the name and the image right on this one.

The bottle looks like all the other TokyoMilk fragrances with it’s simple glass bottle. The sticker has a lovely black and white evening ball print on it. It is is beautiful complete with the heady chandelier. It really completes the fragrance since the fragrance really reminds me of a Fragonard painting with its flirtiness and feminine charm. The fragrance wears for many hours. I wore it to Pike Place in Seattle, one of the stinkiness places in the universe due to fish markets, tourists, and bohemian BO, and I could still smell myself. And so could others. I managed to smell like a spring/summer breeze. It retails for $28 for 1 ounce and can be purchased on beautyhabit.com or b-glowing.com. I have a feeling I am going to go through this one ounce fairly quickly. The floral notes make it dance into spring and the green and citrus notes make it wearable for summer.
