So far, 2016 has been a wild year filled with many things that I’m sure most of us want to forget. However, it’s been a great year for lilac perfumes. Amouage launched Lilac Love, a lilac and chocolate perfume. There were a few botanical perfumes by Providence Perfume Co. launched Love-in-a-Mist, a limited edition wild flower/lilac combo, and DSH Perfumes La Belle Saison, a dewy lilac. And here’s another new limited edition botanical lilac perfume, Phoenix Botanicals Lilac Rain.
For many, many years now, I’ve been a fan girl of the DSH Perfumes line. The brand has an extensive catalog that at times can be very overwhelming. But, it’s been my experience that no matter what I end up trying, I end up liking. Now there are exceptions, but those exceptions are always perfumes that I just “like” instead of “love” or “completely and totally obsessed with”. Dawn’s style agrees with me. I can’t imagine living in a world without her perfumes.
Amayori has launched a new limited edition seasonal perfume for Summer 2016, a natural perfume inspired by summer evenings in Okinawa.
Okinawa opens with a sharp, gingery lemongrass. This lemongrass starts to wear as something that reminds me of lemon verbena, like lemon zest and green grass. As it dries down, it’s like a green coconut with fresh gardenia blossoms. The heart is a realistic “gardenias in bloom” on the plant. It’s like a heady gardenia and green leaves. They dry-down is like a creamy gardenia.
aroma M Voluptuous Nostalgia is a limited edition perfume with copy that sounds like it was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday“. It’s inspired by seeing Rome from a Vespa…decades ago.
Voluptuous Nostalgia opens like pineapples and white florals. It the becomes a sweet, creamy white floral. It’s almost like a “gardenia custard”. It dries down to a warm, gilded amber with a hint of floral spiciness.

Voyage is a new limited edition natural perfume by Hiram Green that is inspired by India that’s “as opulent as Octopussy’s floating palace on Lake Pichola“. It resides in a place where fantasy meets reality. For me, Voyage brings to mind wonderful vintage perfumes of the early 1980’s. It’s glistening citrus, sumptuous spices and this amazing velvet-y amber base. It’s multi-layered and is one of those “they don’t make ’em like they used to” perfumes. But, oh yes, they do.
