    Date: 2012.01.27 | Category: fragrance | Response: 2

This March, The Book of Lost Fragrances by suspense author, M.J. Rose, will be available. I haven’t read this book but it’s about soul mates and a mystical fragrance. Yes, it’s a mix of perfume and fiction by a bestselling author.

    The Book of Lost Fragrances
THE BOOK OF LOST FRAGRANCES fuses history, passion, and suspense,
moving from Cleopatra’s Egypt and the terrors of revolutionary France to Tibet’s battle

  • Envoyage Nectars des Îles EDP Perfume Review

    Envoyage Nectar des Iles EDP

I love perfumes that start with an idea and execute that idea. Envoyage Perfumes Nectars des Îles is one of those perfumes

    “Excuse me! Wait. Excuse me!”

I hear this and keep on walking down the steep hill with two smooshed face creatures pulling my shoulders out of place. ”What does she want?” I ask myself. It’s the evening. I’m tired. I just want to walk my dogs, go home, cook dinner and watch Modern Family.

    “Excuse me.”

    OK that’s it and… Continue reading | 12 Comments

  • Caron Le 3ème Homme/The Third Man EDT Fragrance Video Review

Date: 2012.01.07 | Category: fragrance, video reviews | Response: 6

Caron 3ème Homme merges two of my interests – perfume and film noir. And not just any perfume, 80′s masculines, a “genre” that I adore. Caron 3ème Homme is inspired by The Third Man, a late 1940′s British film noir by Carol Reed. This film is one that some say “epitomizes” the genre and it has a strong cast with Orson Welles and Alida Valli. If you haven’t seen it, watch it.

    Clinique Aromatics Elixir Perfumer's Reserve

A perfume’s life expectancy is even more brief than a caveman’s. Most perfumes don’t live long enough to blow out five candles on their pink frosted birthday cake. To see a perfume reach it’s 40th anniversary is very rare. And to see a perfume reach its 40th and still be loved is even more aberrant. I’ve always adored Clinique Aromatics Elixir. I have a thing for chypres. And Aromatics Elixir is my “casual” chypre. It’s often a scent that I wear in the fall… Continue reading | 12 Comments

  • Providence Perfume Co. Jazmina Solid Perfume Review

    Date: 2011.11.23 | Category: fragrance | Response: 3

    Providence Perfume Co. Jazmina

The formula of Providence Perfume’s Solid Perfume Balms are based on retro solids of the 50′s and 60′s, you know, those that were petroleum based. And yes, Providence’s modern formula is very similar. EXCEPT there is no petroleum. The base is shea butter, beeswax, and rich oils. So, the formula is “balmy”. Imagine something like Smith’s Rosebud Salve.

Jazmina opens is a spicy nutmeg floral. Jasmine is the star here. I’m actually surprised how much the nutmeg stands out. It’s dry and peppery. It… Continue reading | 3 Comments
