Guerlain The Voyage Collection Moscou EDT Fragrance Review
I love Guerlain but I’ve never been interested in The Voyage Collection. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s their size and price point that keeps me from trying them. *I seriously do not want 8.3 oz. of any perfume. But, I do want about 1.7 oz of Guerlain Paris-Moscow or Moscou, whatever it is called.
Moscou opens as a cherry floral gourmand. The cherry and cranberry are tart and over a rich cherry-almond-vanilla tonka bean. I absolutely love the fruity cherry in this. Florals peek through but… Continue reading | 14 Comments

Top 20 Sellers of 2011 Perfume Project
A few bloggers have decided to give their 2 cents of the most popular scents in the U.S. – best-selling feminine perfumes of 2011. You can find the list here at Bois de Jasmin. The list is in no particular order. And here are my informal observations/mini-reviews.
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
If I smell perfume when I go out, 8/10 times it’s Coco Mademoiselle. It doesn’t surprise me at all that this made the list. Coco Mademoiselle is one of my least favorite Chanel… Continue reading | 25 Comments

Votivo Candle & Diffuser Reviews – Pink Mimosa & Breath of Lavender
In late January, I attended the New York International Gift Fair. One of the things that really stood out to me while I was there were the two new home fragrance launches from Votivo. There are many Votivo scents that I consider staples (the ones that I always replenish). Is Mimosa of Breathe of Lavender my new favorites? Let’s see.
Pink Mimosa includes notes of mandarin, strawberry, gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa, vanilla rum, sandalwood and musk.
This scent is perfect for summer. It’s… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Penhaligon’s Violetta EDT Perfume Review
Purple Flowers Week – 2012
Penhaligon’s Violetta was created in 1976 but has the scary blue shade of a 1990′s club cocktail. The perfume house describes Violetta as a “dark, dusky and mysterious” violet soliflore fragrance. I disagree. Violetta is an amplified, potent violet. It’s like looking at violet with a magnifying glass and there isn’t anything dark or mysterious about that.
Violetta opens up as very sweet candied violets. So, how is it different than other violet candy… Continue reading | 2 Comments

Guerlain Chamade Pour Homme EDT Fragrance Review
Purple Flowers Week 2012
In 1999 Guerlain made a Chamade for men to go with the feminine Chamade of 1969. It was a limited edition but now it’s back. I’m reviewing the most current Chamade Pour Homme, the one in the ugly bottle that is in Les Parisiens Collection.
Chamade Pour Homme opens with spices, juicy citrus-evergreens and some crisp greens. It smells masculine, crisp and fresh. I admit that I get a bit of Pine-Sol cleaner in the top but strangely… Continue reading
