Naturally Victoria’s Secret Acai Berry & Magnolia Hydrating Body Lotion Review

The Naturally Victoria’s Secret line is Victoria’s Secret attempt to tap into the “natural” market by emphasizing the power of natural ingredients. I don’t know how it is working out for them. I see the Victoria’s Secret market more interested in fragrance and they really don’t care about the natural ingredients as long as it smells good. And I see the natural market not caring for this line because it does come across and synthetic (maybe because they are). And there are already lots of great natural lotions and body products on the market that the “natural” consumer is buying.
The packaging is made to look simple. It’s all in white and the font is classy. The fragrances come in pairs “to unlock the potential in nature’s most beneficial ingredients“, such as Açai Berry & Magnolia. This magic natural duo brightens (magnolia) and protects (açai berry). I don’t see a difference using this. It is a nice moisturizer. The lotion is lightweight but effective. It doesn’t feel greasy and it absorbs quickly. I like the formula for summer. But, if it claims to protect, wouldn’t it be nice if it had a SPF? And it claims to brighten, they could of put shimmer or something in there. I can’t say that it protects or brightens.
It also doesn’t hurt that the nature pairings that they use have a nice fragrance and are already used together in perfumery. This is a fruity-floral fragrance. It is difficult for me to describe it because it smells like a Victoria’s Secret store to me. It reminds me of how their products smell when you bring them home. This lotion has that “new bra smell”, haha. It’s a delicate floral mixed with tart berry fruit (think more of a cranberry). This isn’t a mind-blowing scent and I don’t love it. But, I do like it way better than the Secret Garden fragrances. These are simple and less abrasive to me. I find that this lotion is scented but it doesn’t interfere too much with the other fragrances that I wear. For example, I’ve paired this with Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile EDP,Pacifica French Lilac Solid Perfume, Annick Goutal Un Matin d’Orage EDT, and a discontinued The Body Shop Magnolia Perfume Oil. They all layered nicely over this lotion. The lotion completed these fragrances.
My verdict is that this isn’t a bad product. I like the formula and the fragrance mixes with other products that I use. I like it for a Victoria’s Secret product, but I don’t like it as a natural product. I can find better scented and suited for me products. I like natural products because they smell natural, like lavender or rosemary. I like the light, fast absorbing formula, but I can get that in a drugstore lotion. I won’t buy this unless it is on mega-clearance, like under $5. I received a bottle as a gift. My name is Victoria and I always get Victoria’s Secret products as gifts even though I’m not wild about them.
You may like this scent if you like fragrances such as Versace Bright Crystal EDT, Burberry Sport for Women EDT, Donna Karan Love From New York, Ralph Lauren Ralph EDP, and/or Fresh Pink Jasmine EDP.
Retails for $12 for 10.1 oz. It is available at Victoria’s Secret.
