MSC Natural Skincare Soap, Scrub & Candle Review

MSC or Metropolis Soap Co. is an all-natural bath and body line that is handmade in Brooklyn. And here are reviews of a few products that I’ve tried from the line:

MSC Skincare Soap

Honeysuckle & Violet Bar Soap

You guys know that I love bar soap.

The name would suggest a floral; however, this soap is a crisp green citrus. I mainly get a bitter, green lemon from this scent. I’m not usually a fan of citrus but I like this one. It smells naturally clean and being a soap, I want it to smell clean.

The formula reminds me of other all-natural soap bars that I’ve tried. It lathers and cleans nicely but is a quick melter, meaning keep it out of the shower until you use it to make it last longer.

Ingredients – Distilled water, saponified oils (sunflower, coconut, rice bran, palm kernel, shea butter), certified organic honeysuckle, certified organic violet leaf, essential oil blend (bergamot, litsea cubeba, balsam of peru)

Retails for $8.50. Many other scents are also available like Earth & Patchouli, Bourbon Vanilla & Oak and Ginger & Lime.

MSC Sugar Scrub

Grapefruit and Spearmint Exfoliating Scrub

MSC said this scent combo was one of their most requested. It’s a cool grapefruit. I wouldn’t want this as a perfume but as a scrub, it’s great. It’s one of those scents that you would want in the morning because of the invigorating notes.

Now to the formula. I love it. It’s thick and feels very much like raw shea butter. You scoop out a small amount and it warms up and spreads easily. It’s extremely nourishing and my dry skin loves it. So think of it like raw shea butter with larger sugar granules. It rinses off without making my skin feel greasy, but I feel moisturized and smooth. This is an excellent scrub for dry skin types. Oily skins may find it too greasy but my dry skin LOVES it.

Ingredients – Sugar, Sunflower Oil, Shea Butter, Rice Bran Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Emulsifying Wax, Grapefruit Powder, Essential Oil Blend of Pink Grapefruit and Spearmint, Vitamin E

Retails for $33. Other scents are also available. I’m going to try Vanilla next.

MSC Soy Candle review

Lavender and Chamomile Soy Candle

Lavender and chamomile have both been used in aromatherapy to sooth. This is a sweet lavender, a truly relaxing fragrance. It’s as soft as a down pillow.

Being a natural scented candle, the scent is very faint. It doesn’t throw like the mix-media or synthetic candles I own. However, it’s comparable to other natural scented soy candles that I have bought before. When you buy all-natural candles, you sacrifice some of the throw. It’s just a fact.

Retails for $28. Other scents are also available.

Overall I like what I’ve tried. The brand is great for those that like products from brands like LUSH, Aveda or Shea Terra Organics. I’m absolutely in love with the Exfoliating Scrub, it’s exceptional.

MSC Skincare can be found at their online store and they are carried in a few boutiques nationwide (check out their store locator).
