More 1980′s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Joan Jett

Does anything make you cringe more than the thought of 80′s makeup? Yes, and that’s most likely big 80′s hair! So, I’ve tried to copy this Joan Jett makeup look. I’m not “going there” with the hair! (I’m already embarrassed as is!) I’m going to see if one can rock an 80′s rock’n look that Joan is sporting here. If not, it makes a cool Halloween look
I feel the answer is “not” and here’s an 80′s Joan Jett look for Halloween. Here’s what I used to achieve this Joan Jett look:FACE: I applied concealer under the eyes, MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC 20, with a concealer brush. With a large kabuki brush, I applied Everyday Minerals Semi-Matte Foundation in Winged Butter. Obviously, Joan did not follow up with an oil absorbing powder! Blush is extreme. With a medium sized slanted blush brush, I applied starting higher than usual, Covergirl Instant Cheekbones Blush in Purely Plum, a plum-ish shimmer. I blended upwards. I’m not happy with how “rosey” this color looks on my skin. I should of used something more “rust” on my complexion.
EYES: Joan really played up her dark brows. To get a look like Joan’s, apply a brow powder such as Elizabeth Arden Dual Perfection Brow Shaper in Natural Black with a slanted brow brush. Brush brows in place with a brow gel like Shiseido Translucent Eyebrow Shaper. I applied Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Base with my fingertips to help shadow stay on longer. From lash line to crease, I applied Jane EyeZing Eyeshadow in Electric Iris (not pictured), a bold and slightly matte cool purple, with a sponge tip applicator. I blended this with eyes open going outwards, making an “exaggerated” almond eye effect. Under the brows, I applied Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Sultry Mauve, a lighter matte mauve, with a medium sized eye shadow brush. I lined the top lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero. I did a thin line. Line the bottom lash line very thickly. Contact the “lines” on the the top and bottom lash line. I curled lashes and applied Estee Lauder MagnaScopic Mascara in Black to top and bottom lashes.

Colors are much more bold, like Joan's, without the flash. However, no good light, so must use flash
LIPS: I thickly lined lips with a warm, slightly red-brown lip liner, Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner Pencil in Coffee Bean. Over the liner, I applied directly from the tube, a medium plummy mauve with lots of gold frost, Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipcolor in Coquette. The flash makes this metallic lip color appear very red. It is not this red in person, trust me.
Now for a fragrance…OK, you can criticize me, but I can’t resist the name of Valentino Rock n’ Rose EDP. And the fragrance is actually fitting for the look in my opinion. I’ve always felt that Valentino Rock n’Rose has a very big-haired 80′s feel to it.
