More 1940′s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Martha Vickers
Here’s one of those pin-up “patriotic” 1940′s looks, something to raise, mmhmmm, morale. I will never grow tired of red lipstick! Never. Here’s what I did to get this bombshell, vintage look of the stunning Martha Vickers:
FACE: As always, complexion should be to perfection. With my Elizabeth Arden Foundation Brush, I applied a small amount of Lancôme Absolue Makeup in Ecru 10. Under the eyes, I applied Covergirl Simply Ageless Concealer in Corrector. Down the nose and on the cheek bones, I blended Benefit High Beam, a pearly pink liquid highlighter. With mark Powder Brush, I brushed on Clarins Loose Powder in Translucent. With a blush brush, I applied mark Good Glowing Powder Blush in Star Glo, a medium pink with a little bit of coral. I applied this shade “higher” up on the cheeks.
EYES: Martha has awesome brows. I filled in brows with Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre in Natural Blonde. Martha’s brows are darker so if you want a look like Martha’s try Brunette. I followed up with Smashbox Brow Tech Wax to set brows. I brushed brows into place with a comb. With my finger tip, I applied Shiseido Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow in White Lights, a white shimmer cream eyeshadow. With a eyeshadow brush, I applied Milani Powder Eyeshadow in Peachy Peach, a very light peach beige with silver shimmer, a must have shade for light complexions. In the crease with Sephora Brush #13, I applied Alima Pure Luminous Shimmer Eyeshadow in Ingrid, a shimmery taupe. With a fine liner brush, I lined the top lash line, slightly winging out, with Smashbox Cream Eye Liner in Lava, a metallic dark grey that is almost black. This color works much better than black for this look. I curled lashes and applied two coats of Estee Lauder Magnascopic Maximum Mascara in Black to top and bottom lashes. I then applied Ardell Duralashes.
LIPS: Lips and brows made this look. I lined my lips with Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Red Dynamite. From the tube, I applied Chanel Rouge Allure Satin Lip Colour in Romantic 28, a neutral red with a bit of glow.
Now for a fragrance…I’m thinking something feminine and floral. That’s why I’d like to complete this look with Yosh Sottile, a lily and tea rose perfume.
This weekend, I have no plans. We’re trying to finish some painting this weekend in the great room. Renovation life is so unglamorous. Husband told me this morning that it is supposed to snow all weekend. What? I’m ready for spring!
Oh, don’t forget about the TweetChat #fumechat tonight at 7 pm Pacific time! Have a good weekend! Hope to tweet ‘ya later
