More 1940’s Fashion: Get the Makeup Look of Gail Russell

1940's style icon Gail Russell

I love this cute Western photograph of Gail Russell. And you know I love orange lipstick. And I love dark hair. So, this is a look that I really, really like. I find this look really does work well with complexions similar to Gail’s. The coral/orange lipstick really makes blue eyes pop and it’s a nice contrast with black or brunette hair colors.  To get this look:

FACE: Gail has a flawless complexion. Apply a foundation primer such as Smashbox Photo Finish Targeted Pore & Line Primer. Apply a foundation such as Clarins Everlasting Foundation. Apply a concealer if needed. Clarins Concealer Stick is nice for spots. With a sponge apply a pressed powder such as Almay Line Smoothing Pressed Powder. With a fluffy blush brush, apply a coral blush such as Benefit Coralista to the cheeks.

EYES: Brows are filled in. Fill in brows with a brow pencil like Sephora Brow Scupting Pencil. Fill in any “holes” and brush brows in place. Apply a slightly shimmery peach eye shadow such as NARS Eye Shadow in Night Star. With a large shadow brush apply this color from lash line to brows. Apply liquid liner to top lash line. I love the staying power of Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Liner in Blackest Black. Curl lashes and apply a lengthening mascara to top and bottom lashes. I really like Clarins Wonder Length Mascara in Wonder Black.

LIPS: The orange lips are making this look. Line lips with NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Orange (not pictured). Straight from the tube, apply Lancome Color Design Sensational Effects Lipcolor in Studded. This is the perfect color for this look. Apply a coat of gloss in a sheer gold shade such as Covergirl Shine Blast Lip Gloss in Flare.

Now to a fragrance. I want something unexpected and with hay. That’s why I would complete this look with Yosh Kismet perfume.
