Weekly Cheap Secret:
This fall Milani launched Lip Flash, a full coverage shimmer lip gloss pencil. I love lipstick and lip gloss pencils! They seem to come and go. When they are on the market, I buy them up while I can. I love the precision that they offer. Milani Lip Flash offers an extra glossy finish with lots of shimmer and coverage. This line has 8 shades. I’m reviewing and wearing the shade, Photo Flash.
Do you miss Maybelline Forever Metallics Lip Color Pencils? I do. Frink the Frug actually ate my last red one this summer. My last stocked up one! Maybelline’s mushy formula got all in my new rug, but somehow I was really upset that I lost that glossy red shade. Well, Frink (my little pug-like mutant) is off the hook now that Milani has launched Lip Flash.
The formula: I love this formula! I want a pencil in every color. It is easy to use. It gives a precise line and even coverage. It’s moisturizing and longer wearing than a lip gloss in a tube or tub. The formula is a bit sticky, all lip glosses are, but Milani Lip Flash is more so than others. I compare it to Lancôme Juicy Tubes tackiness. It has some tack, so it sticks to the lips longer. It survives coffee breaks! Because it is thicker, it is easier to sharpen than other lip gloss pencils that I have used in the past. There is no scent or flavor. The colors are very shimmery with coverage, but they can be applied sheer since these are buildable.
The color Photo Flash: Photo Flash is a super shimmery blue toned fuchsia with pink and red shimmer. I love it. It’s bright and shimmery and the shade is a shade that “brightens” teeth because of the blue base. It is the kind of color that you can wear with minimal eye makeup. My suggestions: line eyes with matte blue/navy liner and wear this lip color, a sheer wash of shimmery lime/light green cream eye shadow and this lip color, or frosty lilac shadow/purple eyeliner and this lip color. The shade, Photo Flash, would look amazing on brunettes and those with dark hair.
I want every color of this product, no joke. Above I have a “collage” with a swatch and worn on my lips. In the “look”, there is no flash, just sunshine. Yes, there is sunshine in Western Washington! The close-up is with the flash. It shows just how much sparkle is in this stuff!
Milani Lip Flash Pencils retail for about $6.50 and are also available at Cherry Culture.
