Maybelline Coral Crush Color Sensational Lipstick Review
Weekly Cheap Secret:
I remembered that I like drugstore lipsticks. I love lip color and it is so much fun to get instant satisfaction from a “cheap” cosmetic. I’ve tried many brands. I usually fall in love with one company’s line and buy every color in it. I decided to give Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick line a try. There are almost 50 colors in this line. I went for Coral Crush 515 as my introduction.
Color: I love coral. However, most of my coral lipsticks are extremely pigmented, staining the lips. I also like very orange corals. Coral Crush 515 is a nice “tame” coral that lacks shimmer. It’s coral but it has more pink than orange. I would describe Coral Crush as a pink with orange instead of a coral. For me, this is a “natural coral” shade. It’s a satin finish. It is rich in pigment. There is a faint sweet fragrance/flavor.
Formula & Wear: The formula is OK. To be honest, I was expecting something more moisturizing and something that makes the lips look “lush”. It isn’t a bad product at all, especially for the price. I find it surprisingly “dry”, the ad campaign made these look very moist. It doesn’t dry out my lips but I feel it needs a gloss over it for extra “umphh”. Lasting “power” is OK, not as bad as moisturizing lipcolor but definitely not long-wearing.
Packaging: The packaging in this line is nice. Sure the “chrome” will scratch with time. I kind of like that the tops are different colors based on the color family. So if you really fall in love with Maybelline Sensational lipsticks and purchase many shades, then you can tell a difference in your cosmetic’s bag. Red top for reds/corals, etc.
Have you tried any of these? What do you think? I may purchase a few more, especially after seeing swatches from The Makeup Snob. This isn’t the best lipstick that I’ve ever used. But, it’s decent and a cheap thrill. I’m really interested in the shade Totally Toffee.
Retails for about $6. This Maybelline lipstick is available at most drugstores and drugstore.com. Sometimes you can get this as a BOGO product.
