Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner Review
This isn’t my usual toner. But, I love it for the summer. Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner is for oily and troubled skin. My skin is usually OK. Because I live in a region that does get summer weather and I do not have A/C, I do get oily. This oiliness sometimes equals a breakout. I have to switch my skincare regimen in the summer. This is the “heavy duty” toner that I use.
This toner contains a gardens worth of ingredients from parsley to tomato to cucumber. I love the scent of this toner. It smells like a summer vegetable garden. I have thought about putting this is a spray bottle and using it is a pick-me-up body spray in the summer. The smell is green and fresh and does smell like a tomato vine. There are niche scents from CB I Hate Perfume to Hilde Soliani that are going for the fresh tomato vine smell. This Burt’s Bees toner has that.
The toner doesn’t do much for my skin. I don’t have acne so I can’t say that it helps with that. (But, I do get the occasional summer zit that seems like it won’t go away until fall!) What I really want is something that makes me feel clean and refreshed. I also need, even though it somehow makes me feel guilty, an alcohol base. My alcohol free toners don’t cut the grease. I’m sure this is stripping my skin like mad, going from alcohol free to an alcohol, but my skin doesn’t flare up. I use this at night only. That being said, this toner does not burn or make my skin feel uncomfortable. My skin is used to fruit acids/alpha hydroxy acids in skincare. These usually brighten the skin. Maybe it is just me, but I do feel this product helps with making my complexion appear more even. I go without powder or foundation in the summer because I don’t like the feel and I don’t really need it. I just know that I’ve found a summer skin care routine that works for me.
I like the formula and smell of this toner. I do not like the top. I often find that it leaks. One time I had lost 40% of the product on the drive home. My car smelled like a garden but I wasn’t happy about losing that much product before I even got home! So, this won’t travel and the bottle is glass. I think that is very pretty but I know I’m going to drop it on the tile floor one day. I can see this bottle causing some problems in my future.
An 8 fl.oz. glass bottle retails for $12. Sometimes you can find it on sale. It is available at most drugstores and drugstore.com.
